The "didn't take it seriously" stuff doesn't cut it.........There is one primary explanation for the score of that game and the secondary excuses falls so far below it, they are for all intents and purposes non-existent----App. State has a bunch of really good players.

  • It's Damn Tough

Being Lloyd Carr today. But it can always get worse. He's gotta be praying that Appy State doesn't go down to Lenoir-Rhyne next game........Hey, then Appy State can say they weren't taking that game seriously.

  • The Main Problem

[Read more letters about this article: Here]

With "didn't take it seriously" or "looked past them" is that these guys are working and training year round. For most of them football is the most important thing in their lives including academics, family, and girlfriends. They have 11 or 12 total games per year and 6 or 7 before the home crowd.

And using that excuse for the first game is particularly unbearable. They've been working their asses off all spring summer and fall in anticipation of it.

  • I Think It May Be

Some kind of unwritten treaty between fans of the big programs----When I say my team was wasn't taking an opponent seriously if you will take me seriously, I'll do the same for you. We can rationalize all of our defeats that way except when we play each other. Then it will be the refs or injuries or whatever else we can dream up..

  • It Could Be As Simple As

The fans projecting themselves on to the team. The fans didn't take it seriously. They came out to get drunk and hog down the buffet out in the lot before the game, check out the tits and ass and watch the rout. They knew nothing whatsoever about the other team other than their name sounded funny.

Then 4 hours later they have gas and a headache and are face to face with their own stupidity. So their team didn't take it seriously and their coach needs to be impaled on a skewer and slowly spun over a coal fire.

"One fluke does not a fact change, and it's a fact that there is no impetus for the power schools to schedule patsies, therefore we don't get nearly enough Tennessee-Cals, and way too many Oklahoma-North Texases."

In 2005 and 2006 Oklahoma opened up losing to TCU and beating UAB 24-17.

Undefeated National champs of 2002 won 7 of their games by a total of 38 points including a buzzer job against Cincinnati........They rerurned the next year to go 11-2 including wins of 16-13 over San Diego State and 24-17 over Bowling Green.

  • The Reason The Patsy Games Are Good

[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Is because sometimes the patsy isn't a patsy. It doesn't matter how often. I'm quite certain that the Michigan coaches saw in film study that App. State had athletes and was dangerous. But that concept is simply beyond the grasp of the hooligan and imbecile fan base. So no matter how often, it's a delight to watch the result and aftermath.

Of the Michigan fan base, today, still thinks Lloyd Carr had 90 Paul Bunyans on his team and the other guy had 60 Elmer Fudds on his.

  • It Beats The Hell Out Of LSU-USC

This past Saturday those Michigan stands were full of 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 year old juvenile adolescents, many over-weight and alcohol impaired to one degree or another. Most completely uncoordinated athletically. No inkling at all about App. State. Pompous and naive........Now their personal self-esteem and ego has gone down the toilet with the performance of the hallowed 20 year olds---they are red-faced, stuttering, and wanting the coaches ass. Big money boosters threatening to pull future funds.

Is this a great country or what?

  • Furthermore And Finally

One thing that has been stated several times already and is most definitely accurate is the other big boys will not be scheduling Appalachian State anytime soon. Can't risk going through the same hurricane with their own gang of alumni/fans/ignoramuses. And maybe take a real close look at whoever they do schedule.

Imagine that. There are BCS coaches and Athletic directors this very week getting it straight to not make Appalachian St. that fill-in 12th game the next few years. Or maybe a brave one saying--yeah let's schedule them and see what we got.

Sports. I love it. God help me, I do love it so.

With the Larry Craig situation regardless now. The cornerstone republican party plank of personal responsibility has been discarded by their big mouths. I've watched several of the TV cable shows and listened in to conservative radio and more often than not it didn't take 60 seconds before they were saying "Barney Frank" and "Ted Kennedy."

High school top 25s.....Boy, I bet that has some informed voting behind it.

Being put forward is that cops should have something better to do. Is that effective use of resources. A cop or two in an air port restroom. How about 150,000 soldiers in Iraq?

Should conspire not to do high school top 25s. That's playing the fans for bigger suckers than they already are. Let's put reasonable limits on the manipulation of the suckers.

I was just teasing. Poking fun at the republicans who each campaign levy the charge of flip-flopping against the democrats, when this current crop of republicans are rewriting the records in the Guiness book of flip-flopping.
