I Believe I Heard

That a felon cannot play in the CFL.

Please

Enough bitching about the money the athletes make........They used to be pack mules--take this contract or shove it.

As To

The issue about the lack of loyalty of the players........How much loyalty is there shown by the fans. They will turn on their players, teams, and coaches in a heartbeat.

I listen in to Saint Louis sports talk radio---LaRussa gave that city 6 division champions, a couple 100 win teams, a couple world series, and the franchise's 10th championship putting them in very select company in all of pro sports.

He got the DUI in spring training, the Cards started out cold, and it was get rid of him. Now they are back in the race and they are all back on the bandwagon. They may have a losing streak here shortly to knock them out of it, then it will be back to--it's time for a change.

LOL At The Surge

Regardless of the success or failure of the surge, or the spin either way, the question is who the hell are all these guys in the Iraqi army and police forces who will eventually have to take over.

I'm sure the anti-American forces have been infiltrating since the start. In fact, that is liable to become their primary startegy as we surge and brag about how it's working.

From What I've Seen

It's a damn good thing Dubya doesn't have to play one of the Iranian mullahs in a game of chess. It would be embarrassing to all of us.

I Know

The big thing with conservatives is this line about Islam being backward and stuck in the 12th century.........But I guarantee that in the private conferences of the Iranian High Priests, they are saying to each other---Can you believe these American goobers?

Our Soldiers Deaths

At this point are dedicated to one thing and one thing only. Delaying for as long as possible the inevitable total domination of Iraq by Iran.

And There Is No Moral High Ground Here

We took sides in the Iraq-Iran bloodbath, where human waves of children and teenagers were sent headlong into enemy positions to exhaust their ammo.

It's sort of like that movie THE SHINING where the cook is telling the kid, sometimes things leave a trace of itself behind.

We are stuck in the trace.

The Signifigant Factor

Despite the overall poll numbers would be where is the middle ground that determines election winners falling on an issue like investigations? That 10 or 15 percent in between the automatic 40 some for each side.

Last But Not Least

As we strive for the big win, whatever the fuck that is, in the Middle East let us solemnly recall the last big conservative win--"Ronnie won the cold war".........How many ICBMs are in Russia? How much nuclear material? Isn't Putin pondering the commencement of strategic bomber patrols again?

"The Good Ole Days"

Is primarily a right wing notion that we intellectually superior liberals must fight against.

From what they say things have gotten progressively worse in every area since the creation of the world 6,000 years ago.

When in reality things have improved greatly and steadily.

My response to them is if we can ever get a time machine built we'll put their asses in it and they can go live the rest of their lives back in the good ole days. Good luck.

Who said----I lived in the good ole days--and there weren't any.

There Is An Element

Of bigotry to the "good ole days", although I won't venture into the territory of a guess of how large an element.........Good ole days--back when more of the population was white and more of the sports players were white.

I Enjoyed

The 2001 World Series.........You just know after the dramatic Yankee homers to come back from 2 games to none to take a 3-2 lead that Rudy thought God was buddying up to New York and himself against the terrorists. Then the Yankees blow a 9th inning lead in game 7 with Mariano Rivera in his prime on the mound.......And they've been knocked out of the playoffs every year since.

Somebody

Got a save in that 30-3 game.

It's a Damn Shame

That managers don't put a good sense of humor to practical application in baseball....You know that thing about trying to extend a 4 run lead to 5 so a grand slam won't tie you?

Up 30-3 in the top of the ninth I steal, bunt, and hit and run going for 31. In the post game you say that at 30-3 7 grand slams beats you.

Bonds Revisited

I was watching the Braves-Reds game last night. The announcers were commenting on how the ball carries in that park. One of them added that there is a study showing the effect of enhanced ballflight in heat and humidity, just like wind, or elevation above sea level, and that was no doubt adding to the situation in the recent toasty conditions in Cincinnati. Repeated incidents of not to solid contact and routine fly balls carrying all the way to the wall, and lesser hitters hitting it farther than expected to the opposite field.

Well, guess who played about a decade in famously sweltering Atlanta--none other than Henry Aaron. Where we had the 1973 team with three players who whacked 40 or more....Aaron, Darrell Evans, and second basemen Davey Johnson who led the way with 43. Little Davey's next highest season was 18. In his 1,014 at bats as a Brave he averaged a homer per 17 at bats. In his 3,783 at bats as a non Brave he hit a homer every 48 at bats.

And one more thing---San Fransisco is known to be fairly cool, even cold in the summer.

The Best Defensive Pitchers

Are the ones who strike out the most batters, thus reducing the possibility of anyone making an error.

Josh Hamilton

Appears to be lesser against lefties----62 at bats, 1 homer, 2 RBIs, .226 batting and .306 slugging percentage.
