the pro-paddling states are clustered in the South along with Colorado, Idaho and Indiana
This is no surprise. There was also an excellent article on this about two years ago in The Dallas Morning News, especially the not well known aspect that many of the victims are turned into "spanko-philes" by the punishment, and are at liability to be further victimized in "spanking porn."
In 2001, in Orlando, I attended an American Atheists conference which featured a keynote speaker on these issues. Alas - can't recall his name. His address, however, was compelling, and he showed how and why school paddling destroys sexual innocence of the youngsters it is inflicted on - primarily because of the proximity of the punishment area to the sexual nerve endings.
Though many will wail about "moonbats" intruding where they do not belong, I am glad something is being done in MA to stop it. The rejoinder may be made that "just a few little taps on the butt is not the same as paddling with a wood board" - but that misses the point. Each kid may have a different threshold for pain- or excitation, or whatever. It is best not to strike a kid at all, and to find more sane, sensible ways of correction - like time outs, or depriving them of something they relish, like a video game.
But paddling and spanking in any form ought to be banned as the detriments to civilization they are.
The name of the speaker at the AA convention just came back to me seconds after posting the earlier comment. It was Jordan Rian, and his topic was 'The Religious Abuse of Children' - focusing on punishmnet of kids in strict religious schools - but also extending to the generic paddling in all the paddling states.
Corection - it was Jordan RIAK.
As soon as I learned that Jarret Bush was playing instead of Charles Woodson, and KG-B was out, I knew it was all over and the 'Boys' would take it. It meant the Pack -D could no longer play man on man, but rather "zone". And also that their secondary would now be no match for Owens and crew. And that's how it turned out. Even if Favre had been effective and 100% the Pack would have been one play short in a shootout with a diminished Pack defense.
As for Favre, he came out way too excited and greedy. Totally got away from the playing format that got the team this far. Instead of being conservative and going for high % (short, toward the middle) passes that eats up the clock and sustains a drive - he got reckless and greedy with overlong shots down the field.
If the coaches called these plays they deserve being put into the doghouse - or rather the Green Bay ice house in solitary for two days with only bread and water.
Interestingly, it was the backup QB Aaron Rodgers who played the game the way Favre HAD been before this fiasco.
As Deion Sanders noted in his post-game remarks, this game- at the end - didn't show much of anything if people are seeking answers to which team is better, Big D's Cowpokes or The Pack. In the end, Dallas won over a depleted Packer team, which only shows they can indeed win if given a handicap.
IF the key personnel of the Packers get back in shape in can play at 100% they might have a chance on Jan. 20. If not, well it was a good run while it lasted.
And were we the only ones who missed the 1st Dallas field goal because commercials were still going?
Sorry, you will have to lay the blame on someone else for that. I saw that first Big D field goal perfectly fine - no commercial interruption or prolongation.
Can't blame the NFL Network for everything!
I DO think they need to get rid of Bryant Gumbel - the guy is clueless. He kept referring to the Cowboys as the "Packers" in the first quarter and also got other names mixed up. (Even blew Romo's at the end!)
Collinsworth.....well, Chris is Chris....sometimes he can't help himself. But at least if he had a better sidekick he would be able to control the worst of his oral diarrhea.

Killer could have been white, latino, asian.....
True, and ALL those could have been homies, or gsng bangers. Gangs don't all come in one color- Denver has Asian gangs, Hispanic and white. So what?
This still doesn't prove that the thug that did it wasn't a thug - or former associate of Taylor's.
Hey, yeppers! I will ditch my home and go for the rootless style.
Once all those rich dudes in Vail, Aspen, Jackson Hole ditch their digs and do the same!
Sure!
