[Read more letters about this article: Here]It is clear from the complaints of the lone nut brigade, and notably “vidor1”- that De-nial, is not merely a river in Egypt. It is much more comfortable, as researcher Peter Dale Scott has observed, to sit back and pin the blame on one “lone nut”. It dispenses with the messy and painful business of contemplating that a worm is nestled at the heart of one’s own government, and that dreadful power can emerge at any point to take out an executive who gets too big for his breeches.
Marina Oswald, in multiple interviews given for the 30 th anniversary commemoration has adamantly insisted she was “railroaded” into giving many statements to the WC and many others were edited without her knowledge and consent. (She expressed fear that if she didn’t cooperate she might be deported back to Russia)
These include that she photographed Lee in the backyard (she insists she never did) and that he practiced dry-firing his weapon. In a 1993 memorable “Oprah” appearance, she insisted that Lee loved Kennedy, especially as a fellow family man. He held no grudge at all against him, and the “angry loner” nonsense was pure WC-fabricated bilge. “He would never have sjhot President Kennedy in a million years” she said with eyes set straight into the camera. She said much the same in a Brokaw interview.
Dr. Crenshaw’s assessment of the head wounds was fully supported by other Parkland surgeons. Dr. James Carrico, for example, referred to “shredded, macerated cerebellar tissue” in his WC testimony. In his 1979 House Select Committee testimony he noted “one could see blood and brains, both cerebrum and cerebellum fragments in that tissue”
Carrico had also reported that “two EXTERNAL wounds were noted” one of which he measured to be 5- 8mm across in the throat BEFORE Malcolm Perry’s tracheostomy.
Dr. Charles Baxter, in his account, noted “the rt(sic) temporal and occipital lobes were missing”
He’s also recorded as having read: “the temporal and parietal lobes are missing, and the brain was lying on the table”.
Clearly, this testimony in toto along with the dynamics shows at least one frontal shot (the “kill shot”) and maybe two. (From the acoustic recordings, which I will soon get to). This makes it clear that even in the unlikely and implausible case that LHO was involved, he emphatically was not the killer. Since he would have been BEHIND not in front. (And the jet effect nonsense invented by Alavarez has already been hurled into the shitcan)
Now, the acoustic evidence compiled by an MIT crack team of specialists (as opposed to the non-specialist NAS bunch that subsequently tried to overturn the results) was appointed by the House Select Committee on Assassinations when they commenced their own inquiry in 1978 (for an excellent account, see Gaeton Fonzi’s ‘The Last Investigation’)
The team found evidence in their recordings for SIX shots in all, and a possible seventh. It was this finding in particular that led the HSCA to conclude for a “96% probability of conspiracy”. Since all those shots couldn’t have been fired by the alleged M-C in the time.
The team took the analog (straight audio) recording captured on dictabelt and transformed the sounds into digitized wave forms to make a visual re-creation of the shots. They also filtered out the noise (from a motorcycle engine) then analyzed the tape for other notable impulses. (They also clearly identified gunshot type echoes by fabricating other non-gunshot echoes and recording them and comparing them to what was on the dictabelt record)
They were able to isolate at least six clear shot associated impulses and a possible seventh – clearly pointing to at least a 2nd gunman and a conspiracy. The experts also used the recording to measure the time span in which the gunshots were fired, and were able to match the auditory impulse patterns to specific frames in the Zapruder film
A Carillon bell was also picked up, and continued sounding for at least seven seconds after the last recorded shot.
Test shots fired from the Grassy Knoll position (from behind the stockade fence) produced echo patterns that proved that the impulses on the dictabelt couldbe gunshots from this location with high probability (exceeding 90%) and NOT backfire noise from a motorcycle as the NAS independent study tried to claim.
Some time later, a rock 'n roll drummer (Steve Barber)
acquired a disk copy of the dictabelt recording from a 'Gallery' magazine insert, he challenged the HSCA original report - based on his personal analysis of the 'Gallery' mini-record. This led to the hypothesis of 'crosstalk'
being on the tape, and the entry of the Ramsey (National Academy of Science or NAS) team)
David Scheim, MIT mathematician, offered this comment
on the NAS analysis of Ramsey et al:
""While the panel offered some valid criticisms of the methodology used in the House acoustical studies, it introduced complex and controversial assumptions and made several errors of its own"
These errors, it turned out, were of even larger magnitude than any made by the original HSCA gorup.
Researcher W. Antony Marsh also makes these points :
"The NAS did not allow any dialogue with critics. They worked in total secrecy. In fact, they did not even make their raw materials available so that other researchers could try to duplicate their work."
The above is extremely pivotal, since in any bona fide scientific milieu, reproducibility of results is all important. Since the Ramsey analysis - whatever its merits or otherwise - lacks the benefit of confirmation, even the most dogged anti-conspiracy adherent must concede it is not completely valid. Nor should it be unreservedly accepted until and unless such confirmation is completed.
The lone nut "hypothesis" with its absurd assault on truth, basic physics and common sense ("single bullet theory") must now be interred with other assorted dreck. It is, indeed, no more credible than buying into human virgin birth!
