NO, you do not. Cheating is cheating. An ethical violation subject to the violation of the principle that the "ends never justifies the means". Bonds' means (using number-pumping body amper-uppers) doesn't justify the "ends": besting Aaron's HR record.
You do not have to be "breaking a rule" to cheat, just as you don't have to be "breaking a rule" to rape, to lie, to steal, to plagiarze. These acts are WHAT THEY ARE by their nature.
Merely because a blatant immoral act is "not on the books" doesn't mean it doesn't exist!!!! Stop using semantic tricks to justify what this slimy sleazeball did.

Hmmmmmm......good question! Maybe - just maybe - you might also ask why so many more black folks agreed with the OJ verdict, setting him free in 1994. The opposite was true of whites, who saw through the "if it doesn't fit you must acquit" rot and subterfuge -and railed when they saw a killer walk free.

Bush is an illegit pretender, who never truly earned the presiidency but had to steal it by (difficult to prove) shenaningans first in FL (stealing black votes in Duval and other counties) and then in 2004 in OH.
Ditto - Bonds is an illegit pretender to the throne now proudly held by Henry Aaron. Bonds has come to within 3 of taking Aaron's record by using steroids, concealing their existence by adroit means (and his connections) and lying about them on the stand (perjury).
SO, we not only have a lying, perjuring "(p)resident" but a lying, perjuring HR thief who wants to seize the most treasured title in baseball for himself. This fucker isn't even fit to lick the dog shit off of Aaron's cleats from 1957. (WHen he had to step around a pile outside Yankee stadium)
Bonds is a fucking disgrace, a lying cheating little fuck-up who was unable to make a name for himself except by resort to extraordinary "rendition" of his body. (Check the stats in the recent book about him, and how much he increased his muscle mass, etc after getting his 'roids)
Bonds is useless lying, no-good ratfucker, and anyone who defends him - or tries to pooh-pooh it by comparing it to the alleged misdeeds of others, is as well.
Case closed.
Selig, tell this fucker to eat shit and don't go to his disgusting "coronation". Tell him you don't go to honor perjuring cheats and fuckheads.

Please, anyone who would defend Bonds doesn't deserve to call anyone else anything, far less a "sports fan stereotype". YOu remind me of all those prepared to give OJ a pass after the jury set him free in 1994.
As for "stupidity" that is really the pot calling the kettle black. I mean black. As long as there are zeroes like you defending a criminal and cheat like Bonds, sports' standards in the U.S. will never recover.
Are you sure you weren't one of the jury that set OJ free? It would make your defense of a grade-A asshole like Bonds much more understandable.
Also, your sports stupidity (apart from your room temperature IQ) is astounding. A mere glance at a host of stats, RBIs, HRs etc. will show how Bonds' numbers took off - along with his physical dimensions - after he commenced getting his 'roids stash. And you think this is an exemplar or standard for black youth, or any youth? Talk about the epitome of stupidity. You are IT.
At least Henry Aaron is repected by the majority of black kids in Milwaukee and other cities. Bonds is "worshipped" - if at all- merely as a Sports OJ or way to get back at "da Man".

Actually, the no. was 616. But that's beside the point. Check out the standard deviation for seasonal home run numbers - which stands at 15.36. This in itself is suggestive of chicanery, since if Bonds were a consistent hitter - and relied on no external props - the std ought to be lower. The variance is also way too high. Check also the gradient of the slope in the period 1994-97.
Our local sports writers did a story on Bonds HR production about a month ago, and showed in detail how the statistics translate into cheating. They didn't mince words either - noting Bonds "record" if it comes needs to be asterisked.
But I suppose they are all a bunch of senile "old white fools" too. Anyway, you have your opinion for what it's worth and I have mine - based on hard stats and a standard deviation, variance that don't hold up to scrutiny.
Like it or not, Bonds is a cheat. A recent book that shows how many Americans worship successful cheaters is a cautionary story for our times. It probably discloses the extent to which the whole society now employs cheating at various levels - since they see little or nor problem with what Bonds has done.
