Ah, arrogant Americans!
...scratch a feminist & find a puritan.
when teens start sharing pornographic photos of themselves, some legitimate dangers are introduced...
I challenge you to list these "dangers." Otherwise, you have just written the liberal equivalent to the fear-provoking concern-trolling articles you can find written by nearly every moral conservative in America.
But you have no integrity, so I'm certain no such list of "dangers" will be forthcoming.
...is inspiring. Not to mention their respect for different points of view, their desire for unity among all Americans, and their dedication to the principle of free expression.
Add to that their sense of proportion. Mountains from molehills? Not quite - they've constructed Kanchenjunga out of a small pile of dirt (and Mr. Warren is small, and dirty).
Y'know, Obama really is beginning to remind me of Jesus: the man himself, and his ideas, I dig. His followers: not so much.
I speak of their intolerance, and am immediately labeled a "bigot." Simply a cursory glance at my previous posts will show adamant support of gay rights, including gay marriage, as well as firm opposition to religious encroachment in government. And my opposition to the Bush Presidency dates from before the man was elected. All this is clear from my previous posts, but assholes like "fightthetheocracy" (one of the Valiant Keyboard Kommandos of the left) can't be bothered with facts.
Some will say it's just one asshole, a well-known asshole around here in fact, and clearly one who has zero interest in the ideas, opinions, and experiences of others. (If he were inclined toward an open-mind, such an asshole would check a person's previous posts before drawing such broad conclusions about character.) He insists on fighting bigotry and intolerance not with the tools proven to defeat such banes, but instead with more of the same: more rigidity, more prejudice, more intolerance.
But it's clear that this one asshole farts in the voice of hundreds of similarly intolerant assholes. The most dangerous enemy of Americans right now seems to be the harridans of the left, demanding revenge, demanding punishment, demanding a new regime that differs from the old merely in its ideological leanings. These assholes would destroy the village - not to save it, but just to prove their point and make themselves feel... I don't know... righteous? Ideologicall pure? (It would be nice to know, but you can't expect an asshole to give you a solid, honest, reliable answer.)
Like I said: I like Obama. I like his team. I like the direction he appears to be driving. Our New President seems committed to his message of unity and intent on demonstrating it in both word and deed.
Many of his followers, however, seem more inclined to Bush-like politics of intolerance and ideological conformity. My hope is that Obama's deft basketball moves are designed to "out" those intolerant extremists (like the assholes here) and give us all a good look at them - so we can ignore them and perhaps do some good in the next 8 years.
She understands that you cannot condemn the "hatred" of "anti-gay Christians" while screaming hatefully at "anti-gay Christians."
Etheridge and her wife seem to both understand and live "tolerance," something which seems anathema to many "pro-gay" liberals.
They also seem to understand forgiveness, a concept alien to both sides of this socio-political debate.
Haaretz has reported that Israel is engaged in a massive PR effort to sell the slaughter of Gaza residents. This effort is aimed at various entities - political, academic, and journalistic - in order to divert attention from the murder of civilians for geopolitical gain.
Alex Koppelman and/or Salon are obviously part of this PR blitz.
I'd say they ought to be ashamed, but whatever minuscule amount of shame Koppelman may have once had was shed long ago in these pages. It appears to have died along with or immediately after the demise of his journalistic ethics.
Gertrude didn't say it, but I'm sure she'd agree: A hack is a hack is a hack.
Not surprising, but liberal fearmongering smells the same as the right-wing fearmongering we've endured for years. Oddly, both camps of hysterics end up proposing the same solution: more, bigger government. As if the country isn't Soviet-esque enough, the wit Kamiya proposes we create a plethora of Pravda, subsidizing an industry that already produces about as much verity as the historical communist corollary. True genius, that: the kind of genius that digs a hole in order to get dirt to cover the hole dug the day before.
Democrats now know the tactic to be employed against them in the 2010 elections. They now have the opposition playbook, in advance of the big game.
Something tells me they will still manage to fumble.
...is surpassed by the idiocy of the letters. I don't know which dismays me more.
...while Gingrich may be known for his gratuitous partisanship, he is also known as an idea man, although an idea man who has little interest in how those plans are actually carried out.
This is an apt description for most "idea men." Indeed, it is their ideas, and not their facility with planning, which garners them the appellation. While Koppelman, in his usual small way, intends insult, I doubt Newt Gingrich would disagree.
