Republicans for Clinton

It should be obvious by now: there are no actual Clinton supporters who make the claim they will vote for McCain in November. Anyone making this claim is already a McCain supporter, using childish Rovian tactics, inspired by their hero Rush Limbaugh, attempting to foment division and angst among Democrats.

This forum is no exception: ShawnWM is the most obvious case, but he lacks both the intelligence and temperament to keep his cover: he is a passionate admirer and devotee right-wing authoritarianism, so deeply committed to fascist ideology that he cannot even pretend to be remotely liberal. It's about as hard to identify Shawn's true loyalties as it is to identify, say, the sky.

But other such as KateTex and ProudTexasGirl are also among the faux-Clinton supporters. Their inability to express exactly why they support Hillary is the best clue to their true loyalties. But they also on occasion manage to directly quote various "talking point memos" issued by the Republican party and McCain campaign. Karen22 and lj-whatever are two of our latest posers, each of whom not only fails to delineate their reasons for supporting Clinton, but also manage to repeat the same falsehoods and factual errors found in (you guessed it) Republican campaign propaganda.

One wonders what drives these people to such blatant hypocrisy and dishonesty. We know what drives people like Mark Penn and Karl Rove: they get paid to do this nonsense. I suppose these pathetic citizens are somehow emboldened by their ability to post anonymously in an internet forum; I doubt they'd behave so dishonestly in "real life" - but who knows? It's become clear there is a large segment of American citizens who no longer care for decorum, honesty, or even democracy.

I guarantee that among Senator Clinton's true supporters there is not one who is foolish enough to vote for McCain in November. There may be a few who are angry and hurt enough to say such a thing in private, among friends who understand their pain - but out in the open air, not one would give even the slightest bit of power to the thought of another 4 years of Republican hegemony.

Come November, Senator Clinton's true supporters will heed her call for unity and vote to elect a Democrat as President. These trolling dead-enders who rail against Obama now amd claim they will vote for McCain? 80% of them won't even vote in November.

Voting for McCain if Hillary doesn't win the nomination?

A message to those "Clinton supporters" who whine that they will vote for McCain if Senator Clinton doesn't win the nomination:

"Anybody who has ever voted for me or voted for Barack has much more in common in terms of what we want to see happen in our country and in the world with the other than they do with John McCain," Clinton said on CNN's "The Situation Room."

There you have it.

Of course, not one person claiming this is actually a legitimate, bona-fide Democrat or Clinton supporter anyway. But in case some of Senator Clinton's more passionate admirers were disillusioned or depressed about her chances of being on the ticket, the good Senator assuages their discomfort with this well-timed call for unity.

@chiefpayne

That didn't stop you from blathering your opinion in previous letters. You're a fraud, boy. Pack it up.

Don't feed the trolls. Especially those obtuse trolls who remain pro-Bush and pro-war.

@KateTex

You're not a Democrat, Granny. But your actual party did abandon you, along with the rest of the country. That's for sure.

Anti-Obama People

Of all the people who post anti-Obama remarks in this forum, not one is a true supporter of Hillary Clinton.

Of those people, not one has risen to the numerous challenges to explain, with regard to the issues, why they prefer Senator Clinton to Senator Obama. A true supporter of Senator Clinton would be well-versed in her platform, and would be able to aptly respond to the difference between those positions and those of Senator Obama. As none of these Obama-haters actually prefer Senator Clinton, nor agree with her policy positions, they are left only to state they "dislike" Senator Obama for issues of personality rather than politics. They refer to their "gut" or "instinct," while insisting their opposition is substantive. Some of them state generally they are opposed to Senator Obama's position on some issues, but are unable to clearly explain those positions or their own preferences, much less where Senator Obama differs from Senator Clinton.

As many analysts have noted, on most issues the two candidates are very similar, if not identical. Much of the rhetoric expressed by supporters or opponents of each candidate tends to focus on "personality issues," such as Senator Obama's perceived arrogance or Senator Clinton's perceived dishonesty. Many of these personality-based attacks often seem based in assumptions and prejudices about race or gender, lending to the notions held by either candidate's supporters that those opposed to them are either racist or sexist. In particular, those who lack a substantive argument against Senator Obama, who insist their "gut" or "instinct" inspires their position, often do so with highly emotional invective, which supports the suspicion they are in fact opposed to Senator Obama because of his race. Many of these suspected racists claim to support Senator Clinton, which gives fuel to the notion that she herself is employing racist tactics in her campaign.

Given the two candidates similarity on the issues, a truly non-racist supporter of Senator Clinton would gladly vote for Senator Obama as the "best second choice" offered by the party (though perhaps with the same discontent and distaste expressed by Governor Dean's supporters, the majority of whom voted for Senator Kerry in 2004). If only to prevent another four years of ruinous Republican rule, a true supporter of Senator Clinton would do nothing to enable the electoral success of Senator McCain.

Those stating they will "sit at home" on election day, or who claim they will vote for McCain if Senator Clinton is not on the Democratic ticket, are either fools or Republicans in fact and manner.
