  • Will it work again?

Will the whole Roger Stone-Nedra Pickler-Chris Matthews type of smearing work this time? Will the MSM line up in lockstep against the Democratic candidate? Will America buy all the lies once again?

    You're goddamned right they will.

The Limbaughs, Coulters, Malkins, O'Reillys, Hannitys, Dowds and Drudges are still there, still powerful and still ultimately unbeatable beacause once more the spineless, fractured Democrats will fail to stop them. Roger Stone may have to shelve the "Hillary is a C**T" t-shirts, but he's licking his racist lizard lips at the idea of putting an uppity you-know-what in his place. Fox and Fiends will "accidentally" the words "Barack Hussein Osama" over and over and over until it's drilled into the heads of every scared white male - and all those Obamicans will suddenly dry up and disappear.

And if that fails, there's still all those disenfranchised voters that Karl Rove's made sure will never, ever see the inside of a polling place. And let's not forget all those ever-reliable Diebold machines that don't need no stinkin' paper trail.

    Say hello to President McCain.

  • MoDo the Malificient

[Read the article: Dowd: Are (Hillary's) women necessary? ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Is MoDo the Malificient even relevant anymore? For that matter, was she ever? Well, maybe to Joel Stein, whom I believe is still trying to woo Her Royal Snottiness.

The great irony is that the line "Some women in their 30s, 40s and early-50s who favor Barack Obama have a phrase to describe what they don’t like about Hillary Clinton: Shoulder-pad feminism," is written by 56-year old woman who harbors an undying grudge against anyone with XX chromosomes -- and a whopping majority of XY's as well. Is it because her policeman daddy gave her an Easy Bake oven instead of a .38 snubnose?

It's become plainly obvious that someone who thinks neither men nor women are necessary is rather unneccesary herself. Speaking of which, Miz Traister: do you still agree with the crux of that 2005 article you wrote about her?

  • Better? Well, sort of...

Los Gigantes aren't much better on paper this year than last, but you can damn well bet their clubhouse will be more cohesive. I'm not even a Giants fan and yet they're a thousand times more appealing to me without Cancer No. 25 on the roster.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I am stunned -- stunned -- that a middle-aged white liberal woman would parrot Hillary's talking points. Quelle surprise! Doesn't matter anyway. The Joan Walshes of the world would never dream of voting for Obama anymore than a Markos Moulitsas would for Clinton. Ralph Nader's dream of being a spoiler has already been done for him.

Both sides have become so entrenched that it seems extremely unlikely either candidate can win without the other's strengths behind them. The netizens and young will be too embittered by the undemocratic party machine to vote for Hillary; the blue-collars, Hispanics and elderly will abandon Obama.

Kate, if Hillary wins the nomination I'll run through the Nine Circles of Hell to get her elected. I'll happily jump the chasm. Both sides have played dirty and nasty, I admit it. There's a lot of us out there not so Barack-struck that we're willing to tank the party in November because our candidate din't win in Denver. A lot of us still like Hillary -- just not her tactics on another Democrat.

Now, would you do the same for Obama? My heart says yes, because I don't think the idea of President McCain thrills you, either. But my gut says... no.

    Prove me wrong. Please.

Personally, I hope her book is about an overpriveleged Pretty Young Hipster who makes it big because of her Ivy League connections. My god, it's time someone wrote that story.

re: Hillary voters teaching Obama a lesson. Nate nailed it so beautifully. I work with three middle-aged Clinton supporters and none of them will vote for Obama in November. Two will vote for McCain (Hill's old vodka-drinking buddy, remember?) and one will stay home.

I wonder how many Clintonistas are completely out of touch with reality. When it's said Hillary is a polarizing figure, we should remember it isn't just the Republicans who see red at the mere mention of her name. The other side of coin shows a group of people who are behind her so blindly that they'll gleefully destroy the Democratic Party in order to prove a point.

Ahhh, old Tailgunner Joe just wants the opportunity to character assassinate both Al and Barack in one fell swoop. Fanciful dreaming from a baldheaded Beltway nightmare.

  • what the hell?

Ummm... was this supposed to be a review of "Sex and Death 101" or just two guys waxing romantic over Winona Ryder? Boys, add three more minutes of video and tell us what you thought of the movie, okay? Masturbate over Winona on your own time.

  • commercialization

    [Read the article: Opus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"Bill's very protective of his characters, and never allowed any commercialization or use of them in any way."

This isn't commercialization -- commercialization in this case would be using Hobbes to sell Opus merchandise. This is just parody, which is protected under the First Amendment as a form of free speech. Breathed may have run it by Watterson first as a courtesy, but he didn't need to. I somehow doubt any lawsuits will be filed -- Berke's used Guisewite's "Cathy" and Mark Slackmeyer from "Doonesbury" as well.

Hmm... if a woman had the Left Behind series or a stack of right-wing offal on her shelves, I'd have to book (pun wholly intended). But nixing her because she reads Danielle Steel? That's too Seinfeldian. People that shallow are really doing the world a favor by staying single.
