It's impossible to vet anyone at this point

You just have to accept that your savior is surrounded by crooks and thieves and decide for yourself whether his thieves are better than the last crop. It used to be not paying your social security tax on the salary you paid your illegal alien nanny was enough to get you booted. Now you have to out and out steal millions of dollars.

And screw the ex employees. Wonderful.

Only Salon can paste up YouTube videos and then critique them with an air of intellectualism

That is precious.

I'm sure I don't care either way

I say let NY become so unaffordable that only Caroline Kennedy can live there.

A tie ALWAYS goes to the Republican

I'm sorry I don't make the rules. But Cornyn will ensure it gets tossed to a Federal court then the Supreme Court in order to award the seat to the GOP. This is how these things work. Likewise, all the prattling that the Senate Democrats have about Burris will ENSURE that the Senate GOP works to seat NO ONE for that seat on an interim basis. Then they will win the necessary special election because all they have to do is point to the Democrats as corrupt.

So that's two GOP Senate seats.

In NY, the GOPs in the state legislature will force a backroom deal that gets a 'moderate' Republican in the seat.

That's one more GOP Senate seat.

Good job Democrats. Your purity and ideology won out.

No the real point is that the anticapitalists here are just as dull as anyone else

If you follow slavishly whatever retarded ideology for its own sake you'll wind up pretty much the same place. Is regulation bad? No. Should we have Stalinst top down centralized control of everything to ensure that there's no corruption? That's stupid. Is there anything inherently real let alone virtuous in absolute anarcho capitalism? No of course not. But in the end economics is neither morally good nor morally bad. It's a tool that reflects the values or agenda or ruthlessness of people who use it. This entire argument is binary and therefore a waste of time. There is no absolute evil nor absolute good. Socialism, hybrids, capitalism, communism and all the others are equally subject to the forces that result in corruption. On that score one is no better or worse than any other.

We are often banged in the head by the so called 'socialist' nordic states. Except that they're not. They're social welfare democracies, not socialist states. They have the benefit of small homogeneous populations, small geographies and in Norway's case, obscenely abundant natural resources that allow them to pump money out of the ground. Finland specializes in high tech. Sweden is one of the largest arms exporters in the world (so much for Peace!). Denmark is the world's heavy shipping port. And the entire nation of Iceland has fewer people than the 75 largest CITIES in the US so who cares?

Similarly one of the world's most purely socialist states is Israel. The nation all liberals love to hate. So how do they reconcile that?

By comparison the little economic powerhouses in Asia: Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore are very much free market capitalist countries and their populations have ONLY benefited from that in comparison to countries like Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand which held to their insanely inefficient ways.

And in the case of Cuba, the liberals love to scream "It's the embargo!!!" Really? Then how do you explain the abject failure of countries that have free trade with the US: Haiti, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and so on? So obviously it's not that socialism is 'good' or that the US 'keeps those people down'. It's built in to what's wrong with those countries on the whole.

Sure sure the US has economic problems today. But in South America or Africa, any other country with these problems would be festering in squalor and civil war for decades. We have a way to get out of it. Most systems don't or don't want one.

Your heads must be exploding

The economy hasn't devolved into Stalinism. Israel isn't being banned from the planet for defending herself. The NY Gov isn't choosing Andrea Dworkin II for the Senate.

Even NPR interviews Israelis under rocket attack

When you're to the left of NPR, Salon/Greenwald has made itself as irrelevant as ANSWER. My suggestion to you would be to boil out into the streets and riot, club Jews in the head, grab a bullhorn scream and scream and scream like you always do.

I lived in communist countries

It's not so bad if you join the party, have the right connections and such. Everybody else? Screw them. As always.

Obama's public works project will be a great boondoggle for local politics

As all those local companies get in line for Federal money to rebuild a bridge for the next eleventy million years replete with 500 guys leaning on shovels and 20,000 road cones and all the state troopers raking in millions in speeding fines through a work zone, this whole infrastructure thing is going to be the biggest cycle of fraud in US history.

Of course all the Saloniks who demanding we simply drop bales of cash from helicopters before having any accountability in place beforehand will be the first in line screaming about 'The fat white rich Republican bankers etc etc who sucked all this money out of the system with no checks and balances......".

Mexico had a war against religion in the 1920's

Thousands of clerics, men and women both were executed or tortured. Would that we could do the same in the name of peace, tolerance and multicultural diversity.

It's only fair

.....since liberals believe FDR secretly engineered our entrance into WW2 by willfully hiding information about Pearl Harbor. See there's enough crazy hate to around for all of you. Have a cookie.

In the 50 years since Castro

Cubans now earn about $20 month. Would that there was no embargo and they could flourish like Jamaica, Hati and other such paradises.
