The above quote states the real reason that most of the people who want to criminalize consexual sex between consenting adults. That is, to get rid of all sex work. What the opponents don't like is easy access to sex by men. It pisses them off. Men's sexuality is demonized in order to make sure that sex is only available to those guys that "earn" it. As I've argued a number of times before, sex work is demonized well beyond its importance ( http://fauxwhore.blogspot.com/2008/03/spitzer-and-phoney-moralists.html).

The trafficking issue, legitimate to the extent that such a problem exists, is blown out of proportion to justify Draconian laws for conduct that has occurred from time immemorial. If trafficing is your issue (apparently people only have a problem with sex work trafficking, not all trafficking that occures which is not sex work, since we don't call people who buy cheap clothes made by slave labour "child abusers"), then working to end that is legitimate. Calling one party of a consentual meeting, a rapist is outrageous, and demonstrates a palpable hostility to half the worlds population.

the Likudnik vote. I went out to a formal function with a relation of mine who brought an AIPAC apologist friend. She specifically stated that Obama hates America, that he is a traitor and would sit down with Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran. She also ranted about his wife. The catch-phrases were in every other sentence of her comments on the subject. She was a Hillary supporter, who will now vote for McCain.

The Jewish votes make up a small percentage of the American electorate. The money and the Israel Lobby polictical machine is why politicians whore themselves for the radical right Israeli agenda. John McCain is whore. If I met him, I'd tell him to his face. Hopefully, the progressive faction of the Jewish community will not line up behind the Lieberman Likud party, but instead take a rational, reasoned approach to both foreign policy and domestic politics.

One can both be an ally of Israel, and hold Israel responsible for its actions.
