Yeah, yeah...

and more women get abused during the super-bowl than at any other time. bullshit . If you don't like it, don't watch it. Why "progressives" hate the super-bowl is beyond me. One freakin day out of the year, and everybody's panties get in a bunch. Next time, just go hang with Michael Kimmel and do yoga, or drink herbal tea.

The Charge: Narcissism

Don't worry about the charge of narcissism. It is definitely maddening. J. Michael Bailey's slanderous book about male to female transgenderism makes the same charge against we trannys. He charge is even worse. That we are either gay men seeking lots of sex, or mental cases who are turned on by wanting to sleep with ourselves. Narcissism is a cheap and easy way to describe processes and motivations that are too complex for simple minded, self righteous explanations.

As for women watching gay porn, I have heard that billions of times before, and still don't understand it.

Original article: Rosies of the recession

These articles seem to suggest obliqely...

that marriage sux. who wants to put up with someone who, the going gets rough, get going?

The one good thing about these women leaving now is that under NY's equitable distribution law, the lowered wages of the gentlemen will be factored into the marriage settlement.

I was going to say...

there is no way that picture is real. It turns out, as the author states, it isn't. I was pro-ana once. Never pro-mia. But, my discipline has waned.

Now Class Is Okay to Talk About

Right here on this board, i.e. broadsheet, a while back, I wrote a post that said I agree with Palin, when she said that her parents didn't had her a backpack and pay for a trip to Europe, as a legitimate statement. That is, upper middle class kids have a lot of opportunities that working class kids, i.e. me, never had.

The venom from the posters here was amazing. But it is all too clear now that Kennedy will be appointed to her peerage in the House of Lords (i.e. the Senate) where she can dabble doing the "charitable" work of the U.S. Senate. This after a long career of....what do you call unemployment when your so rich that you can afford not to have a job?

Revolting.

please....anything

to stop the ayn randists and free-marketeers from jabbing their jibs about evil government. first the emasculate the SEC, then fill it with the "greed is good" crowd, then blame the agency for oversight failure. it's enough to make you vomit. freakin hypocrits and liars.

Death From Above

They've been fighting the same war for 3400 years. I say, let them kill each other. I'm sick of our political system being usurped, and our future bankrupted for the foreign policy pipe dreams of the treasonist ideologues.

Original article: Lionizing the shoe thrower

Quit his job and become a political protester

who's voice would never be heard by the corporate media. He should be lionized and celebrated. Bush is a war criminal and arrogant liar. How many people, including women and children, have been killed, or maimed with arms blown off, blinded, melted from explosions?

Join the political protesters is a waste of time. He made a statement (two actually). Good for him. As we continue with our neo-con foreign policy, we need people to stand up and call a spade a spade.

Stop Trying to Pin This on Straight Dudes.

This interview comes out with every negative polemic about straight men. It basically blames straight guys. That's crap. He argues that the church has to come to terms with men's violence agaist women. What does that have to do with the church's position against gay marriage.

Furthermore, since abuse in the gay and lesbian community is on par with that in the straight community, I am confused as to why that in not seen as much of a problem, or celebrated with the same passion as the situation onse sees on Lifetime Television for Women, i.e. some Ken look alike that beats his wife for no apparent reason. These are all canards.

Church and Patriarchy ... (cough) (cough) Bullshit

Although religion is often sold as a paternalistic, patriarchal societal vehicle, I believe that the opposite is true. It suppresses the behaviors one associates with men, i.e. promiscuity and serves a constituency that does not favor promiscuity and values stable relationships. Religion suppresses sexuality. The suppression of sexuality is based on female, not male ethos. The Catholic Church has a disproportionate number of women parishioners. It is women who take to religion. There are also a disproportionate number of gay priests. Some estimates place the number of gay men entering seminaries at 50-70%. How can an institution that is disproportionately gay and female be blamed on straight men?

Religion is a mechanism for gaining conformity from those people who are the most powerful and dangerous in society, that is young men. The genius of religion is selling it as a patriarchal vehicle, when in fact it is just the opposite. It is actually an abdication of responsibility...by placing responsibility on those people who administer the religion, but are not necessarily responsible for its tenets.
