Work or play, the human dilemma. Though I’d like to be a couch potato, my wife already thinks I am. While turning over soil in the garden last evening, I observed my dog watching me as he rolled languidly then exuberantly in the cool grass. Stupid slacker!
After a lifetime of building the nuclear navy, the good Admiral apologized for having done the wrong thing; too little, too late. No Mr Sullivan, after carrying its water for five years, I do not accept your apology for supporting the Bush administration. The majority of voters, 50 million plus, understood the back-room boys of the Republican party anointed the scion of Prescott and George Herbert Walker Bush to steal a presidency for which he was not prepared -- think Paris Hilton in '08. Sadly 48 million of us, Andrew Sullivan, were willing to accept the phony family values that came from his life of privilege, indulgence, and absenteeism, and were willing to celebrate a travesty upon democracy in Florida to install a reactionary in office.
Support to reactionaries by intelligent people like ourselves Andrew is never in 'good-faith', it is always cynical. The evidence was (is) there for all to see. Afterall, Groucho Marx asked, "Who ya gonna believe, me or your own two eyes?"
People for the Love of God recognize that deceit is being thrust upon us! Osama Bin Laden is the enemy, not Juan Valdez.
Freedom would allow us to see our returning war dead decorated honorably in the stars and stripes. Liberty would not leave war debt to our children at the cost of tax cuts to itself. Knowledge would stop moratoriums on science. Patriots know Abu Grahib is un-American.
No, Andrew, I won't go back to review your blog to find just how early you began to question this administration. And no, you who supported the " Decider's " war are not angrier than those 50 million dummies (patriots) who voted against him in the first place.
Your apology comes too late; move over and join the Admiral. Good-Bye
Mr Santorum doesn't see the difference between WWII and the Iraq debacle. One was a declared war with sacrifices at home, 1 million men in the field, a plan for victory and competent leaders -- both poltical and military. The other was not.
I am sorry Ms Dickerson did not hold out even longer to weigh in on Barack Obama and the question of race. Her several, somewhat unorthodox reasons should have been respected in silence. After all, just how "black" can a person be whose name is Debra J. Dickerson?
Just so they know: to be "borked" is to have totally fucked something up; such as to fire the "special prosecutor" of Watergate.
