Great article
[Read the article: The Ron Paul phenomenon]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thank you for an excellent article. I especially like the points you made in the first update; I'll be referring to them often.

Pfft, lawyers eh? Bah!
[Read the article: Ron Paul distortions and smears]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]L.W.M. said: "...the constitution needs to be interpreted by lawyers appointed to the highest court in the land, not doctors..."
That's funny, I keep a pocket Constitution on my desk and have no trouble interpreting it for myself. I wonder how much better a 10-term Congressman is at understanding that which it is his job to understand.
The Constitution is really rather short and sweet. After all, its only purpose is to tell government what NOT to do. It is the U.S. Code that is a quagmire of amendment-twisting and backside-covering that I don't think anyone truly understands. I guess we might need some lawyers there, to untie their own knots.
I'll reverse your logic, and suggest that professional politicians might not be particularly well-suited to determining my health care needs, especially considering their criminally poor record of keeping their promises. If they can't or won't uphold their oath to protect a document, I'm certainly not going to trust them to respect the Hippocratic Oath!

*GAG*
[Read the article: Rudy Giuliani's ties to Fox News]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I threw up a little in my mouth while reading this. Guliani is truly vile.

Dispicable
[Read the article: Mitt Romney: Perfect tough guy for right-wing war cheerleaders]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And to think that millions upon millions of shallow, uninformed fools are salivating at the thought of electing this coward to perpetuate our modern-day 'Nam. That can be the only basis for his support; otherwise, he's an empty suit. But wait, maybe that's it! It's the suit! Yes, maybe they're going to vote for him because he's a "snappy dresser" and has "great hair": http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/debates/scorecard/
Good job, Mr. and Mrs. America. At least you've got your priorities straight.

A bloodcurdling portrait of a ghoul
[Read the article: Rudy Giuliani's messianic paranoia]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Every time I envision a Clinton/Guliani race, I get the chills. Who is worse, Stalin or Hitler? I won't be able to exhale for at least four years, regardless.
This country now finds itself at the crumbling edge of a yawning precipice. We can plunge ahead and hope to eek out some semblance of freedom in the coming police-state (no tinfoil hat here, check your history books: they all follow this exact formula), or we can begin carefully tracing our steps back towards solid ground.
I see only one sane candidate out there (yeah, the one they're all calling crazy). Choose wisely. It's a long drop, and an even longer climb back to freedom -- if we ever get an opportunity to try.
