South Carolina

"Perhaps overstated, (but only slightly): All Republicans are not bigots, but all bigots vote Republican."

True, except when Republicans vote in Democratic primaries. We Democrats are so passionate about our views that we never think of voting for the candidate we want our candidate to run against in the fall. Republicans do that. There were a lot of independents (code for closet Republican) and Republicans voting in the Iowa caucuses. I think they felt they could overcome the winner in that race (Huckabee) which of course they have. Our liberal friends in the media don't have a clue what the Rove machine is capable of. They're so accustomed to trashing the Clintons, they can't think of anything else to say or write about. They're writing now to show how unprejudiced they are and in the process destroying the chance for a Democrat in the White House. Maybe they don't want a Democratic president. They get really good pay now and have moved over to the party of tax breaks. And anyway, their words won't matter in the fall. Republicans don't care what they say or write.

Present

I am amazed at the varied ways Obama supporters justify their hero. I'm wondering if all these people are enchanted because of the way he looks, his gender, his race, because he sounds like a Southern Baptist preacher?? It certainly isn't because he has given specific information on his stand on important issues. Obviously this man does not ever feel confident taking a stand...he seems to measure every decision based on political outcome. Blind worship will not last....to which many American Idol winners can testify.

Present tension

janinedm: This is the type of specifics Senator Obama has on his website but more importantly this is what he says in his debates and in his speeches.

"Coming together to meet this challenge won't be easy… It will take restoring a sense of shared purpose in Washington and across this country. But if you put your trust in me — if you give me 'your hand and your heart' — then that's exactly what I intend to do as your next President."

Senator Clinton has given specifics not only about what she'll do about issues (like health insurance) but what she'll do to pay for them. Do we really want to elect another person like George Bush who got awesome press coverage but knew nothing about any of the issues. He was a good talker and so is Senator Obama.

...and, we all know it's easy to talk about something and say how you'll vote on something when you have no facts...an Illinois state senator taking a chance by saying he was against a war. Who knows how this person would have voted had he been shown national security statements building the case for weapons of mass destruction. Would he have erred on the side of caution? We do know that he has voted for funding for this war each and every time it came up. Look he's a very nice person but that's not the major quality for surviving as president of the US.

The pollsters spin more than anyone

Polling today seems to be so biased and prejudiced that they usually are worthless. The worst seem to be Rasmussen and Gallup, which appear to be supporting McCain as their main priority. They show no information on the demographics of their survey or any other information. We are just supposed to accept their proclamation that McCain is ahead of everybody and Obama is ahead of Clinton, no matter what the situation.

Until we can get some unbiased, scientific polling, the polls are worthless. Even Real Clear Politics, which used to be a good indicator, is not any longer because the polls are from Rasmussen so it's just an average of their proclamations.

Pollsters stop spinning or you will be history.

Original article: I was wrong about Wright

Obama and Wright are still buddies and will remain so...

Joan, you are normally very perceptive. This time, however, you are buying into the Obama campaign marketing blitz. This was all a set-up by the campaign to give cover for Obama. It won't do any good because that's not why we don't like Obama. We don't like Obama because he is a cold, calculating politician who will do ANYTHING to further his career. He disparaged his grandmother, used his mother's illness but didn't mention that she also abandoned him, rarely mentions his grandfather or father, who abandoned him and and took another "wife" and had several other children. Obama inherited the genes of both his parents who cared only about themselves.

I and many of my colleagues believe that the Obama campaign made a deal with Jeremiah Wright. The campaign says they tried to coordinate with Wright about press coverage. That's to give them cover when people find out that they have been communicating with Rev Wright, not just to coordinate press coverage but to coordinate how and when Jeremiah Wright would give Obama the cover he needed to 'disown' Wright. They believe that will help him pick up blue collar workers. Obama will never pick up the white middle class. They don't like him and they don't trust him and they never will. He did all this for nothing. He will not gain the support he needs and he will lose Indiana...NC is still uncertain, as is Oregon.

Either the press is the biggest bunch of idiots ever to be allowed to express their views nationally or you're pretending to believe this scenario. Whatever it is, you've totally lost my respect.
