W.E.S.

"Grow a pair?" "The republicans are pussies?"

You really seem to be obsessed with genital imagery as it pertains to strength. You might want to see somebody about that.

Let me put it this way, you don't play into your enemies' hands by giving them the conflict that they want. You fight the battle on your terms, maximizing your advantages while minimizing their strengths.

If GW Bush had actually paid attention to this rather simple strategic idea, we would not have helped Bin Laden recruit a whole new generation of extremists by giving him exactly the fight he wanted.

W.E.S.

I am thinking that you don't have a pair and this bothers you. Just a guess.

Anyway, I will put the GOP record up on presidential elections and their record against Hillary (how's that health care reform that she got through working for you there, W.E.S. Ohhhhh that;s right, she didn't get it done did she) up against the democrats any day. I mean they got a functionally retarded guy elected to the presidency - twice!

So I am not saying we have to be nicer. I am just saying we have to be smarter.

@ moira kelly - some chicanery

Oh if Hillary wins fair and square so be it. Personally, I don't think she can get elected dog catcher in half this country (including Ohio and Florida) but if she's the nominee then I will vote for her just like I voted for Dukakis in 88. Mmmmmmm Dukakis, now there was a good idea.

I think the issue with McCain will have exactly the opposite of Hillary's problem. The GOP base will not turn out for him unless there is a giant reason to (i.e. Hillary). Hell, the crazies are actively campaigning against him already.

As far as his issues, he has actually done a pretty good job of dealing with them but lets look:

1. Keating 5 - He fessed up and did his straight talk thing. And this is what he owes his devotion to campaign finance reform.

2. His wife - Personally, if she has a problem with addiction, I am not sure going after her would be the smart thing to do. She might cry and get the women's vote.

3. His adultery - If Hillary is the nominee, you'd best stay the hell away from this one for obvious reasons.

Where you hit McCain is on his tax policies. The GOP folks hate him because he voted against GW II's insane tax cuts in a time of war. The Dems hate him because now, in order to get elected, he is saying that he wants to extend them.

And you hit him on the war and his stated belief that we could be there for another 100 years. One simple question:

"where are the troops coming from" and Once simple answer: "a draft" and McCain is toast.

Even if he says he would not support a draft he still has to explain where the troops are coming from and once you raise the spector he is done.

W.E.S. and Hillary's health care

Actually it's too bad that she couldn't get it past seeing as she's so tough. She lost and kids went uninsured for another 16 years. This is why winning is so important.

The mistake the Clinton's made was to go after the divisive gays in the military issue in the first 100 days, therefore starting themselves off in a hole rather than going after welfare reform which would have given them the political capital to get gays in the military and health care done.

And, putting a divisive figure like Hillary in charge of it was their second mistake. She became a rallying point for defeating it just because she was involved.

Hillary's "adultery"

Not at all (although I wouldn't be surprised). Although, there is strong evidence that your "strong leader who's so tough" let her husband humiliate her and walk all over her publicly in a way that, I would hope, most women wouldn't stand for.

Which by the way makes her either look incredibly co-dependent or incredibly conniving. Neither of which are very appealing characteristics when trying to sell a candidate.

Oh and if you don't get the conniving bit, the logic follows that Hillary let Bill do his thing in return for his support at her shot at the presidency.

It's sad but it doesn't even have to be true to hurt. Just ask Barack Hussein Obama ,"the muslim who was educated in a madrassa"

You are making your own point about McCain

"You may be unaware, but we have actually had a president for almost eight years who also ran on Character. And Integrity. And Honesty. And..."

And he won. twice.

And there were no weapons of mass destruction and Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 9-11. And, and and . . .

Look, I respect your research on McCain and the fact that it infuriates you that he's getting a pass from the media and Salon. But what is going to change that?

And if it comes down to red state / blue state again . . . we are going to lose . . . again. If Gore couldn't win that way and Kerry couldn't win that way, then I am pretty sure that Hillary won't win that way.

Hey, you can support Hillary all you want for whatever reasons you want. All, I am saying is that at the end of the day I would like to see the democrats stop doing the same exact thing and getting the same exact results.
