So the point of this was. . .

That you really want to vote for Obama because he's inspiring and might actually change the way Americans and the way that people around the world perceive America.

But you are torn because Hillary has ovaries. Just like you.

I'll make it easy for you. Go with Obama.

Because frankly, even if you vote for Hillary, you're really just voting for her to get the nomination. So basically she is doing just a bit better than Geraldine Ferraro did in 84 (oh and do we need to remind everyone how that worked out?) Good for her.

Yes you are right. Millions of white guys will crawl out of their parents basements. Millions of evangelicals will pound their fists on their bibles. Millions of Republicans who were just going to sit this one out are going to make it their mission to donate, organize and vote so that Hillary never becomes president. Which means we get another 4 years of cold-hearted rich guys and religious nuts taking our freedoms away daily.

Oh lord people, who cares

Personally, Oprah annoys me, but she is a free woman and can endorse whomever she damn well please for whatever reason she damn well pleases. That's what's great about America. At least for now.

And I am also extremely tired of this "my victimhood trumps your victimhood" that apparently was started by Gloria Steinem, although I am sure someone will flame me and say an Obama supporter started it first.

Again, who cares.

At the end of the day, the democrats need to rally around the person with the most palatable politics who has the best chance to win in November.

Um, so was

Hillary crying about this or something else?

Frankly I could care less about what Michelle Obama says or does unless it affects her husband as a candidate. And this, is a non-starter as opposed to Bill who actually hurt Hillary in S.C.

But you know, Michelle is probably more like Bill than she would admit in that they are probably a little bit more defensive when it comes to their spouse. I often get the feeling that Bill takes attacks on Hillary personally and would "meet someone outside" if given the opportunity. I wouldn't be surprised if Michelle Obama is the same way.

But Michelle is ultimately different in that Hillary, Bill and Barack are all politicians who know that these fights can get tough and at the end of the day you have to let bygones be bygones.

I don't think either camp should worry about this statement. In the end it'll probably just end up giving the haters from both campaigns something to snarl at each other about for another day.

Yep, reverse it

I think the Obama campaign smells blood in the water.

Original article: The race for California

W.E.S?

"Bullshit. Those pussies are so petrified of her they want no part of her as the candidate. If she is then they could lose to her, as they've lost to the Clintons for 25 years."

Um, for someone who "I assume" hates GW Bush, you sure do sound like him. Sure, "bring it on" sounded better and had less words but then he might have had more time.

Yes people are crossing over to the democrats to vote against Hillary. Not because they are afraid of her, because they hate her. And, when (and if) the time comes, republicans, independents, Southern democrats and a whole bunch of other folks are going to line up to vote against her again.

As far as this article goes, two points:

1. Of course Joan Walsh is biased. She is identifying with Hillary to the point where it is unreasonable to expect anything different. So be it. There are a lot of writers out there doing the same thing with Obama. Just do what I do and skim the article for anything of value.

2. Because the race is so close, California doesn't mean jack squat. Sure Hillary may get to turn the state her color on tim Russert's map. But, because THE DELEGATES ARE AWARDED PROPORTIONATELY Hillary will make little delegate headway in this state. Both candidates need to dominate in the states where they have huge leads to gobble up all the delegates they can.

This is what was missing from Joan's oh so fair and balanced story.

@moira kelly

You are exactly right. It will come down to Florida and Ohio again. I believe that the key is to increase voter turn out for the democrats, woo independents and moderate republicans while not doing anything that will give the GOP something that it needs - a wedge issue to turn out their base en masse.

In 2004 that wedge issue was gay marriage and Rove was able to turn that into a win that we have all been suffering for ever since.

However, yes, I think it does matter who the nominee is because Obama appeals to that collection of democratic base + independents + moderate republicans in a way that Hillary does not and never will.

Hillary may win the nomination due to some chicanery with Michigan, Florida and the Super Delegates however this will only dampen those democratic voters who are already on the fence about her and completely reaffirm what the independents and moderate republicans think about her.

And so goes Ohio and Florida and so goes the presidency. Because, contrary to popular belief this election is not a lay down for the democrats. I urge everyone to remember how confident we are were in 2004. I mean did we really think the country wanted 4 more years of incompetent lying boobery? Kerry was a freakin' war hero for crying out loud!

But yet, here we are 4 years later and apparently none the wiser.
