@ wandamo

Actually most of these posts I have read on this have been more about the tactics of it than anything else.

Like I said earlier, this ad doesn't change my impression that Hillary is a capable political insider who can slug it out with the best of them. What actually surprises me is that she wasted the money to air this thing.

Especially after I read that the reason her campaign manager was replaced was that she had burned through so much cash with little to show for it.

Note to W.E.S - "They" didn't win anything. He did.

As I recall, Bill Clinton won the presidency in 1992 and 1996 by being a "different kind of democrat." His was the only name on the democratic ballot as I recall.

"The man from Hope" was the theme of the 1992 convention as I also recall. Hmmmmmmm

And, when Hillary was put in charge of something she lost. She lost to those same big bad republicans she's supposed to be so much better at standing up to.

And this ad as well as her campaign, is kind of an indication of why she lost.

@ jwc693 - Obama (and Hillary) and the Iraq War

Short Story:

Authorizing the war

Hillary voted to authorize the war

Obama did not have a chance to vote because he wasn't in the senate but he spoke out against it in a pretty compelling speech.

Funding the war

Both of them voted for war funding (and I would have too, and here's why)

1. I don't trust George Bush or Dick Cheney for a second and if you think they wouldn't have let more than a few soldiers die to prove a point you are wrong.

2. Recent reports from the army indicate that suicide attempts among soldiers are at 5 a day up from less than 1 a day before the war. They directly attribute this to the war.

3. George II got us into this war and sent mostly poor southern kids (some in my family) into harms way without proper logistical, material or troop support. They are the one's getting blown up from IEDs not George II, not Dick Cheney and not any one of their kids.

4. Those who wanted to play chicken with George Bush II over the war funding are clearly ignoring points 1 and 3. In that George doesn't care what they think and he certainly doesn't care about the soldiers and veterans he continues sacrifice for his mistakes

So ultimately both Hillary and Obama had to ask themselves, "Do I trust George Bush and Dick Cheney to put U.S. soldiers safety ahead of scoring political points or prosecuting this war."

Their answer was "hell no" and so was mine.

Um wait a minute

So the Clinton camp's point is that there is no real difference between Obama's plan and Hillary's except that Hillary came up with it first and Obama stole it?

So, um, I guess the we should just choose the person who is more electable.

Ok. So beyond appealing to the incredibly powerful outraged english teachers special interest group, I am not real sure how this is helpful. In fact, it might even hurt.

This, along with the debate ad, would really piss me off if I donated to Hillary's campaign. Seriously, they are getting trounced and this is the best they can come up with?

Hey W.E.S - please look up

How far Hillary was ahead in Ca with this much time to go before the primary. And remember, she has to beat him by 20-25 percent because the delegates are apportioned proportionately.

Not bad Hillary

I got to say, I am impressed. Perhaps if she had pulled this out a few months ago, she might not be where she is today.

I especially like the point that pretty speeches don't put food on the table.

Still, I don't like her, don't believe she can win and am hoping against hope that Obama will win the nomination.

oh we understand W.E.S., we undertand exactly what she is

Yes, she is a fighter. She will scratch and claw and turn this party into scorched earth if that's what will get her the nomination she thinks she deserves.

And those two reasons are why she's had such a tough time.

1. She comes off as adversarial and combative. You can just tell she's itching to get right back in there and fight the old arguments from the 90s. Like a person who just doesn't want to stop arguing. Hell, if she does get the nomination I wouldn't be surprised if she tried ot get Newt to be the GOP nominee. People are tired of this and many democrats and republicans would like to move on.

2. She has ran her campaign as if she deserves the nomination. As if it was a promotion that was due her. It is not. The whole "2 for 1" argument was crap and continues to be crap. It alienates people and makes her seem like the maternalistic liberal elitist that she basically is.

Finally, you even make point 1 for her in your post. Would she run against a sitting democratic president in the primary if she thought she could get elected or even get the nomination? Absolutely.

This incident to Obama

When you consider how weak the Hillary ad was (not enough debates?) coupled with the money that she had to waste to air it, I have to say this one goes to Obama.

His ad is ok but because he has more money and his ad pretty much refutes the Hillary one. The win here is that he is getting her to waster her resources.

Again, if I were a Hillary supporter I'd be pissed.
