This is my fave image of Senor Christo:

http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg298/cherokee_pharoh/laughing-jesus.jpg

I hate those iconic images where Jesus is blond and gazing upward.

I think, as someone noted earlier in this thread, that what's most interesting is the intersection of the right, as represented by kufir77, and the left, as represented by the Salon staff. Even Mr. Hannaham's framing as drag queens as unnatural agrees with the right. It's Salon's posters who kicked back and laughed, much as Jesus is doing in the linked image.

kufir77, I wish you well. You just seem so angry that I can't be angry at you. I hope you find the exit sign from your Hell. I'm just afraid that you won't, since exit signs are red and you're in a red, red room. Now, stop imagining lonewolfy's crotch and find that exit. You can do it!

"the hystericals" is a perfect descriptor. May I use it?

Here's the deal:

I'll marry you if you let me marry Asehpe too. kufir77 can be the best man. Twice.

And kufir77, thanks for the prayer. I'll take that to mean that you love me. Now, I need you to be there for the weddings. Do it for love.

I sometimes think about the 30 years of Jesus's life that are largely untold. I hope he had a great time. Dying is hard, whether it's on a cross or in a nursing home, and we should live, live, live until then.

The comment about giving condoms to three-year olds was just so pervy that I couldn't respond. How does one think of such things?

Here's something else that the Broadsheet feminists and the Broadsheet trolls have in common (Pay attention to the upper case letters.):

The feminists: But what about woMEn?!?

The trolls: But what about MEn?

It's the same tiny question and concern, lavishly wrapped in an entire gender.

Sweet Buddha, this is a fine line:

"...the effects of Orangina on both of them mimic this semi-farcical, semi-transcendent surreality that sex sometimes generates...."

Salon staff, learn from Asehpe! He is wise, grasshoppers.

@ Asehpe

Oh, I'm not suggesting absolute selfishness. For example, if Ms. Clark-Flory were to write about women being raped in Darfur, she's not a woman being raped in Darfur, therefore her exposition doesn't exactly benefit her, but it does support her feminist narrative, and that benefits her. I'm guessing that some of those raped women in Darfur wouldn't take kindly to Ms. Clark-Flory's seeming kindness, given that she's been living in Cushyland while they suffered. That Ms. Clark-Flory owns a vagina might not be sufficient for them to see sisterhood. Their framing might be one of racism, with America being indifferent to their suffering by dint of their color, or nationalism, with America cutting deals with African bad men, all of which, whether Ms. Clark-Flory likes it or not, benefits her.

If you want to see the ubiquity of selfishness, just walk down the street with someone from the right or left. MerelyMortalMale would likely pass homeless men. Ms. Clark-Flory would likely pass a hungry woman. We all abound in opportunities to embody our alleged values, but mostly, we remain theoretically for our fellow men and women.

Say, I knew you're married. Lucky lass, that one.

Funny line, that last one of yours!

1. Live small. In a finite world, hoarding means that others do with less or without.

2. Stop and help that homeless person. Talk to them. Feed them.

3. Volunteer for shelters. Serve in soup kitchens.

4. Be alert. In a city, people who need assistance abound. It's the same in the country.

5. Raise a kid to be aware of inequity. I'm so glad to read that you've already got this covered.

6. It's nice that one writes about others suffering. Be more than nice. Intervene.

7. Give to those charities that are effective and efficient. There are far too many scam charities and many of them are run by megachurches. For example, Pat Robertson colludes with African dictators to mine diamonds and his does this on widows' dimes.

8. Know your neighbors. The more you know, the more you can do.

What's 9? 10? 11? What do you think, Aeshpe?
