Sorry anon, I wasn't clear.

Maybe men's libido shouldn't be criminalized or medicalized but seen as the current end product of evolution.

Why? I mean

Anon, I am not at all saying that the man's libido is THE current end product (though that's exactly what I wrote). I am not saying it is better than the woman's libido. I am saying it shouldn't be criminalized or medicalized. I am saying it is not WORSE than the woman's libido.

They are both equals. They are both the current end products of evolution, for better or worse.

I am saying it is (probably) absurd for men to demand that woman be receptive for sex at any moment or without foreplay. I am saying it is (probably) absurd for women to complain that men are too visually oriented, or that they objectify women, or that the man's libido is too high.

"I am upset that we are descended from Apes and men like hot monkey sex! I blame the Patriarchy for this and demand our culture change!"

I think we have criminalized, medicalized, therapized, and blamed the men for being male and descended from apes.

It is sad that men like to see porn and tits and nice curves, but blame evolution, not men.

It is sad that women like to see signs of prosperity and security and control and these days a hot body, but blame evolution, not women.

This does not excuse bad manners or rape or domestic violence or abuse. This partially excuses a woman being a bitch, but does not excuse her bad behavior or and insists she still take responsibility for her actions just like men must take responsibility for their actions.

Blaming people for evolution is absurd, futile, and counter-productive.

It is neither nature XOR nurture, but nature AND nurture. It is certainly not just nurture, and yet, that is what the entire theory of "I Blame the Patriarchy" claims.

The result is endless war.

Okay you're right!

Blaming people for evolution is reasonable and effective and it has worked out very well so far.

This is why so many young women just love love love to be called feminists. Why the hotels and convention centers are overflowing when the feminist conventions come to town. We don't have girls gone wild videos. Women do not have eating disorders. Models are not dying from anorexia. Divorce is down. Men and women are just living in a new socially constructed bliss!

I thank the matriarchy and wonder what new events await us!

Frankly I hope Pyrian is the same as the troll Anonymous and PollyWolly

So Pyrian, let's see 3 pages late, you tell Clark-Flory she's full of it. That's what I said on page 1.

But you think I am the troll.

The joke is on you, I ain't reactionary, I am a far left bleeding heart liberal.

Idiocy knows no bounds which is why you dipshits can think you're liberal when what you push is a bigoted sexist agenda that is not based in reality.

Then Emily you need to look again.

Because I posted lots of bogus sweeping generalizations from Broadsheet, including THIS post, including the CFL post.

To Anonymous, a) most men really and truly do not want an anorexic supermodel, b) your lack of sex drive AND your weight and my visual preferences and my high sexual desires is neither your problem or my problem, they are both OUR problems (assuming we were in a relationship)

Emily, blaming men because a pill is made available to you is asinine. If you want to say our culture is pretty fucked that it pushes all sorts of diet, sex, depression, social, whatever pills on people, I will completely agree with you. That ain't the patriarchy. That's the pharmaco/psychological/madison avenue industry. Much of that is pushed not by the patriarchy, but by women and men in the media, writing in magazines, on your tv, and whereever. It sucks and I agree, but it ain't the patriarchy's fault.

Why do Women spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on fashions meant to look good on anorexic sick chicks putatively designed by an industry that in fact does seem to hate women with curves?

Most guys don't want you to buy that shit, and are afraid to tell you it looks terrible on you.

But women follow it, discuss it, buy it, and blame it on the patriarchy.

I blame it on evolution, somewhere the double x has a coding for anorexic stupid fashion genes AND a buygin gene.

If Women are popping pills to get rid of their depression and to diet and to enhance their sex drives they may want to ask if that is because their husband/boyfriend is demanding that, or if it is because Oprah and other Media Heads tells you you should be able to do everything you and there are no tradeoffs and that has made you unhappy with your life. Are you really popping pills for the man, or for yourself? Do you really buy dresses for a man, for yourself, or so you look good to other women?

Stop blaming your behavior on men. Otherwise I will have to conclude that women are not rational effective creatures but are emotionally driven and need the protection of a man who has to be there to be certain she does not harm herself by ingesting chemicals or spending too much.

Sorry Pyrian, experience shows that

calling someone a troll is used when you have no way to rebut the actual argument. It's an ad-hominem attack.

Please pyrian, we are here to discuss issues and not just waste our time on meta chat based on your need to control the dialogue.

I pay for Salon like any other user, I discuss the relevancy and the content of the article, and if you don't like that, you are free to debate the issue.

What is disgusting is your attempt to stifle discussion and call people names. It's an authoritarian and fascist move.
