Lesser of two evils?

@Taobhan:

I'm much more likely to see him as the lesser of two evils, depending on the dreck the GOP decides to nominate to run against him.

And if Superman is caught slaughtering a dozen litters of kittens, are you more likely to then think of him as only "AboveAverageMan"? Good gravy, bro, have you not been following along since, oh, June of '08?

It's been since the early 1970s since Gore Vidal pinpointed the problem that all we have is one "Property Party" out to enrich itself at the expense of the good, and of everyone else. After nearly 40 years of being proven right, isn't it time for more drastic measures? Just how much will have to be taken away from us in terms of treasure, justice, and public good before we finally say "Enough!" Seriously, how much more?

@Taobhan re: drastic measures

Drastic measures? What exactly do you mean by "drastic measures?" Sounds like a call to arms. What are we supposed to do: arm ourselves and gather at the post office to launch the revolution? Seriously, while I agree that we obviously need to do something other than what we've been doing, what's our next action? We have to upset the status quo somehow but it would be helpful if you could offer up something more specific than "drastic measures." I don't want to be in a leftist version of the militia movement.

Since I don't recognize your handle, I will assume you aren't a regular here, and thus haven't read my previous comments. If you had, you'd know that I've been an advocate for an organized, massive work stoppage/national protest on a scale like we've never seen before. A work stoppage by enough people, for a long enough period, would certainly get the message across that we are saying "Enough!" and intend to change the country's direction.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in such a thing. Only when all of our jobs are gone, our money is gone, our security is gone, and our hope is gone will such an idea get the mass appeal it deserves. And of course by then, I'll be living in Canada, and America will be burning to the ground.

Oh well. Back to immunizing torturers, fighting meaningless wars, and putting the country 10s of trillions of dollars in debt. La la la.....

Not surprised at all

Really, Glenn, talking about how the sun rises in the morning might be more controversial than discussing the fact right wing extremists have pathological tendencies when it comes to their long-term memories. How long would it take any of us here to tear off a list at least two dozen names deep of right wing reality deniers and their biggest delusions? I'd say about 8 to 12 seconds.

We are such a total laughingstock....

....to anyone outside our country who pays attention to our national political discourse. It is truly embarrassing. It's like watching two close family members in a large Wal-Mart arguing loudly over which is the correct size Depends diapers to buy their parents....

And so, the dumbing down of America continues on unabated....

Credit to Obama?

Bah. He was forced into this because of a legal settlement with CREW. Yippee - when being sued he settles by agreeing to (from now on) do something he promised to do while campaigning! This is a big win for those of us fighting to get more transparency, but I'm not giving Obama any credit, especially as he still refuses to release the ones from visitors before Sept 15th and still will only release them after no less than 3 months - long after their relevancy will be forgotten by most of the public.

Well said.

In addition to the fact the list won't be released from 1/20 through 9/15, I also noted that it would not be necessary for visitors to note who they worked for. That sure is convenient. I can now just see insurance, banking, and energy lobbyists hiring armies of people named "John Smith," and "Mary Jones." Is that the Mary Jones who bakes cookies for our daughter's girl scout group, or the Mary Jones who's the senior vice president of Fake-U-Owt Communications group? Hmph! That's a dizzy of a pickle....I better interview every Mary Jones in America in order to find out for sure....

I guess this is giant leaps and bounds forward, but it feels more like moving the goalposts to me.

Chesney's children

Who is going to be the person who asks Chesney, or Obama, or Emmanuel, how they would feel if one of their own children were swept up in a "preventive detention" raid and couldn't see, hear, or communicate with them, and couldn't have any legal access to them whatsoever. Tell us what you'd do if that happened.

These people are nothing short of monsters. This is where I draw my own personal line in the sand.

This will be deserving of a VERY LARGE march on the White House. Who is organizing one? Please link me, Cuz if there's one, I'm going, regardless of what it costs me.
