Dang that Dung....

Elephantdung wrote:

I always have a hard time understanding why the left-wing finds it convenient, or useful, to make common cause with groups like Hamas.

That's because you only understand things in terms of Left and Right, which of course, impedes your ability to actually think and understand issues of any complexity at all, at least beyond the level of your everyday "dittohead."

Hamas shares none of Glenn Greenwald's values except, possibly, an opposition to all manner of things that relate to American national economic and security interests.

It's neat to know you're an expert on the inner thoughts and policy positions of a collective group of people you've never spoken or communicated with. Good stuff.

You'd sort of think, with all of Glenn's preaching of the rule of law, on civil rights and a free press, and on modern social values, that he'd regard Hamas as one of the most evil institutions in the modern world. I guess he must still reserve his deepest antipathy for his domestic politcal enemies: Republicans, conservatives and American national security advocates.

More proof you are unable to think beyond the tightly bound and boiled down rationalizations you keep an iron-clad grip on in order to make yourself feel better about the things being done by and/or with the help of this country to others "in the name of freedom and Democracy."

Top shelf analysis, Dungman. Top shelf. You may now return to the Sean Hannity Myopic Circle Jerk already in progress....

PS Dungman

RE: your great and prescient ability to see into the minds of Hamas and GG--Can you also please tell us all why God causes tornados and train wrecks? The Crash Test Dummies asked this question awhile back, but I don't think they ever got an answer. Of course, they didn't know you at the time, either, I imagine...

PeakDavid's question

Why have you put such discussion in the sphere of deviance? Why do you not dare to discuss 9/11 in any way except to repeat what currently lies in the sphere of consensus?

Count me in as being interested in a response from Glenn on this. I'm a rational person, and have looked at a lot of the counter-evidence produced about 9/11, and while I dismiss some of it, there is too much wrong about the official story to be believed. The timed demolition of building 7 being one of my most unanswered questions.

I know this is OT Glenn, and maybe this topic pisses you off or something, but it's been brought up here a lot, and all of us who admire your the way you so thoroughly discuss and analyze would like your take on it.

re: 9/11 discussions

Thanks for the reply Glenn. Just was curious where you stood on the matter. Didn't know you'd addressed it many times. I don't get a chance to read every comment from every post, so I'm sure I've missed some comments about it.

In any case, I will say I think your recent slew of analyses on the complicity and duplicity of the media in all matters policy and political has been spot on, and I think it is clearly worthy of a book on the subject by you. Yeah, yeah, add it to the project list.

Gonna go YouTube me some Chomsky, because that's just how I roll on a Friday night...;-)

The Salon Radio interview with MM we WISH would happen.....

GG: So, Megan, you wrote in your blog recently that you believed detainees at Gitmo are subject to the UMCJ, correct?

MM: No, Glenn, I did not say that.

GG: But I see it written in your blog right here on my computer screen. Did you not write that blog post?

MM: Yes, I wrote the post. But Glenn, I was merely asking a question for clarification purposes.

GG: I see. So you were blogging about something you knew nothing about, and asking your readers for advice? Couldn't you have learned that information easily elsewhere before making such a public post?

MM: I suppose, but my intent was to have my readers learn along with me. Unlike you, Glenn, I don't beat my readers over the head by reciting "facts," "laws," and "incontrovertible statements." That's not what my readers want to hear. And after all, I blog for the benefit of my readers.

GG: Uh huh, I see. Well let me ask you then, Megan: Are you a fucking retard? Because you sound like a fucking retard. And frankly, only fucking retards would write or say anything even remotely as retarded as you've done here and in your blog.

MM: No, no, Glenn, I can assure you I'm not a retard, fucking or otherwise.

GG: Ok, well, thanks for coming on Salon Radio. We'll look forward to having you on again soon. (muffled but still audible): You have some drool there on your chin...here let me get that...

Leavenworth not adequate? Utter BS

I have spent the past 18 years living within 15 minutes of Leavenworth Federal Prison. Never once, not even for a moment, have I EVER for even one instant not felt completely safe and secure in my person and my property.

To even suggest that a convicted terrorist poses any more of a threat than any of the other thousands of prisoners who have or do serve time there is nothing short of fear-mongering propaganda.

It is asinine, cheap, and stupid to assume otherwise.
