Shakespearean-like analysis

Glenn, my friend, this is just gold. Gold I tellz ya....

The establishment loves its own. It's an accountability-free zone where members in good standing are deemed Serious and Trustworthy no matter what they do. Media stars in particular swoon when in the presence of new power.... For those general reasons -- and because of the magnitude of what is at stake specifically in this financial crisis -- we need far more skepticism and scrutiny of these individuals than we need to be told how trustworthy and brilliant they are.

Allow me to gush further: I have never seen such laser-like, pinpoint-accurate, and immediately useful political analysis that will be utterly and completely ignored by the MSM as this.

Once again, we need to punish the media for not investigating the points you make (which are so freakin' obvious to us simple plebians) in-depth, much less at all.

Gimme an active, working email address of someone, dammit. I feel like spreadin' it around to all of my more rambunctious friends.

Hmm, maybe I'll go badger Ol' SquareJawTool Brian Williams for awhile....heh

@Bamage, but OT

Glenn, do you ever get that "canary in the coal mine" feeling?

As, I recall, they generally didn't come to a good end.

Bamage, for some reason, your comment immediately made me think of the whole "Bird Flu Pandemic is Coming!" fiasco which whipped the nation into a frenzy a few years ago. Tamiflu, remember? And also remember how Donald Rumsfeld owned something between $5-$20 million of stock in the company that owns/makes Tamiflu....

The establishment protects its own, and enriches itself, no matter what the cost to the plebes. And the plebes just keep asking for more. See "Financial Bailout, 2008" for more information.

2 Questions for you, Glenn...

1) Have you invited Friedman onto Salon Radio yet to discuss this issue with him?

2) Does he have a blog where we can go and harass him about being too much of a yellow-bellied chickenshit when he refuses or ignores your request?

Glenn

You can tell me this is none of my business if you want, but...

If an international group came to you and asked you to help in the prosecution of GWB, "The Don," and You Don't Know Dick Cheney, for war crimes, would you help them? Would you agree to be lead prosecution counsel if asked?

Because if you would, I know where you could find about a thousand loyal researchers who would spend every last spare moment working for free to help you in any and all ways possible.

Interested to hear your thoughts on that, as well as what the likelihood is of such a group ever really coming together and moving forward on this.

@jestaplero

Since Glenn didn't practice on the criminal side I am guessing he wouldn't want to take on that task.

Somehow, Glenn doesn't strike me as the kind who would let that get in the way. Putting a case together contains essentially the same elements, and no one is better versed on these issues from a legal standpoint than Glenn. He'd just have to make a different hat comfortable upon his head.

I'm certain he would be consulted on the matter by whomever took up the cause, if they knew what was good for them.

Then again, it occurs to me there would be lots of shadowy figures in the hallways who'd make sure all principals involved realized the risks they were running in pursuing such matters. All unofficial, unnamed people "in the know" of course.

Rick Sanchez--A Special Kind of Retard

Rick Sanchez, the guy on CNN who can barely read his script or make a complete sentence in his effort to shower the world with his self-righteous clap trap menagerie of opinions is just about the last person I would name to present anything in a fair and balanced way. The guy has "Faux Noise" written all over him.

I feel stoopider every time I hear his gums flap.

So what's good for the goose....

As Glenn alludes to via his analogy: Is it possible, then, for defense attorneys to build a case that could be presented in a US court which uses the examples of Felts, Iran Contra, and the obvious admissions by Bush and Cheney of their lawbreaking to justify any number of crimes committed by other US citizens? Or is that technique only applicable to cases which have decisions or verdicts? Why couldn't mob lawyers use these examples to justify their clients' own extortion, torture, and murders? A precedent of some kind is surely being set, is it not?

Because, I'd like to stop paying my taxes, rob a few banks, steal a couple of nice Ferraris, in addition to slapping the crap out of Brian Williams, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity.

Surely the only way to stop THOSE crimes from happening in the future would be to not punish me for them and look forward to a world free of tax-evading, bank-robbing, Ferrari-stealing, and talking-head slapping.
