But, because the ground is so potentially fertile - it's been fallow for so long - you'd think some bright, eager soul might jump on the opportunity to capitalize on a wide open field to earn their chops. So, you wonder why no one has. I don't recall Matt having an answer for that one, no matter how many different ways you asked the question, Glenn. Maybe there is no answer - or, maybe I need to go back and listen to the interview again.
I believe a lot of this goes back to reporters having their stories directed, pointed, stunted, clipped, trashed, and rehashed, by editors who have very clear directives from THEIR supervisors, who have very clear directives from THEIR supervisors, and so on.
Glenn, I was somewhat disappointed this aspect of the story wasn't discussed. We've heard from your own guests such as the Donahue producer who clearly indicated story manipulation is very much a regular routine behind the scenes. And it only makes sense when you think about a news source like NBC, who is owned by a major military contractor. They, including the repellent Brian Williams, outright refused to cover the Miltary Analyst story. Outright refused. Why? Because it would make the Pentagon and BushCo look bad, and might cost them future no bid contracts. Yeah, they might not be able to continue fleecing the country at the same rates if they give those in power a scrutinous eye.
I mean, let's be honest. There are literally dozens of scoops and REAL scandals about the gov't being broken every day, and yet more and more (if not most) of them are NOT being initially reported by anyone in the MSM's television arm. They have to be practically beaten over the head and risk missing the train entirely before they will report on gov't malfeasance.
The whole mainstream media structure is rotten with incurable cancer. It simply must be destroyed, or must be broken up, and major corporations must have their hands in media strictly limited. We all know that isn't going to happen anytime soon,
so we must keep beating and beating and beating on shitty journalists and their shitty work and scream to the hills about it to anyone who will listen. Make it so that the negative responses they receive become so overwhelming that they either straighten up and fly right, or get out of the business. Relentless beating on them for crap stenography, from all corners of the blogosphere, and then let it spread.
If we don't constantly, loudly, and collectively demand better, as you do so very often, we can't change the conversation. We can't improve the debate. We can't have our voices heard.
There are so many forces trying to shut down dissent, logical opinion, and common sense, it has nearly been snuffed out. One look at the subjects of debate in this election is more than ample proof of that.
Who is allowing these trash picture ads of "Who is more likely to cheat: Obama or McCain" to appear on Salon.com??????? Much less in this very forum where we deride and denounce such utter claptrap!
And we sit here and wonder why the presidential debate is so vapid and low brow? You fuckers are part of the god damned problem!
Get that stupid, Retardo Montalban, good-for-nothing weak-ass shit out of here!
Jayzus............
Yes, he did. And Obama also support attacking Pakistan, a country which has not attacked us.
Wrong. Obama supports attacks on Al Qaeda, not Pakistan, and only after there is confirmation of their location AND refusal by Pakistan to take action on their own. They are not the same thing, in manner or form. It is a huge difference you have conveniently ignored.
First, Al Qaeda is not an internationally recognized organization. Nor does it contain official membership rosters or issue newsletters. Al Qaeda is a more a loose confederation of people united behind a common cause and ideology.
This is just weak, weak, weak. I will let others tell you why if you cannot discern it on your own.
Whether or not you want to admit it....the Bush administration deserves credit for keeping us safe these past 7 years.
And Bush is also responsible for the sun not going out, because the sun has risen every day since 9/11 as well.
Oh, and the moon not crashing into the earth....yep, itz cuz uv him......
Thanks for that compelling insight.
Glenn, clearly you should have a medical degree in order to carry around those kinds of surgical instruments you just used to carve out the word "hypocrisy" into the foreheads of the rightwingnutty class. Or maybe an art degree, I can't really decide.
I sincerely hope your take on this gets amplified by Olbermann and Maddow. This is the EXACT type of example we need to point out the insanity of the positions being taken by "Billo the Clown" and others. No doubt Rush Dumbaugh will be good for any number of quotes today on his show.
Lynne Cheney has a new book! The Dick's wife has just written a riveting new book "We The People," which is a children's book about...........wait for it...........the Constitution!
Lynne Cheney!!!!!!!!!!!! The Constitution!!!!!!!!!!
The only thing possibly more nauseating would be if The Dick had written it himself.
Lynne was just on MSNBC this morning hawking it on the Joe "I never Ask Anything Tough or Probing of Anyone With An R By Their Name" Scarborough morning show.
My gag reflex is on overtime...
Is it really that hard? We have so much more to talk about than them and their idiocy.
C'mon, humans.
So Glenn, can non-citizens buy and own property in Brazil, and if so, what's a nice 3-bedroom home or condo going for these days?
I've really started to wonder if this is a country that will be good for me to live in during the coming decade or two. Increasingly, it is looking like it is not.
