Using Palin's womanhood is no different than using Obama's blackness. If you don't like it, look in your own back yard.
Obama is an empty suit who is a fantastic public speaker. I don't think he would have ascended so quickly to heaven if he were white and that inexperienced.
I don't intend that to be racist. We have far better qualified black men in politics than he. It is time for a black man and/or a woman in the White House. It is the face of America coming full circle and living up to our potential as a nation that accepts all.
Too bad the first go around has to be a circus, although Palin isn't really the first, she's the first with a chance to get in. Let's just pray that American wins something other than the sensationalism of Palin's running or the white guilt of slavery's past.
I sincerely hope that whoever wins does try to change the course of events in this country. But your remarks are useless in helping to move us forward.
I'm uncomfortable around any color of fundamentalism, Christian or otherwise...but I don't think the Christians will kill innocent people (anymore) in the name of God. We kill in the name of political ideology now. It's more palatable to an anesthetized populous.
We miss the larger point as we hide behind partisan sniping. Sure, if this stuff about Palin is true it is very disheartening if not down right scary. It doesn't matter.
Desperate Obama supporters can't accept the fact that this guys is empty without a teleprompter and not at all any more able to be in the White House for anything other than a tourist's walk through.
Face it, we are screwed. America has allowed its intellectual life to fall asleep and now we have media candidates for office. Oh, we've had them before, but this is the hyper version of a cancer gone wild eating the host.
We're doomed, plain and simple, and we've earned it.
It's time we simply put the immature back-biting to sleep. It's all meaningless drivel. The caricature of ourselves will implode as America says good night.
How sad we've become
We're ready to elect a Black president. In fact, it would probably be a great boon to the U.S. internationally to not have an old white guy leading the team. But Obama? No way. Not for me.
We have so many other qualified Black leaders amongst us it's sad the Dems went for the shiny suit.
That said...
Who cares about the qualifications of a VP candidate when we have a presidential candidate with equal or less experience in Obama?
God save this country from it's woeful choices. But Obama? Where's the talk about Obama's lack of credentials?
Oh, that's right..none of that matters.
Talbot et al: You are becoming comical. Your partisan orthodoxy is frightening. in your attempts to disgrace and otherwise take away credibility of the potential VICE PRESIDENT, you cite her inadequacies with statements in the article like "Sarah was unprepared to be mayor -- it was John Cramer who actually ran the city," said Michelle Church, a member of the Mat-Su Borough Assembly, who knows Palin socially. "As vice-president she'll certainly have to rely on faceless advisors with no public accountability. Haven't we had enough of that in the past eight years?"
Well..isn't that blind orthodoxy kicking you in your shriveling balls. If that is what is true of the potential VP it is also exponentially true of the cardboard character in a suit, Obama. Good Lord, quote lack of experience and behind the curtain advisers for a VP and ignore the fact that the man you want to lead the free world hasn't the experience to lead a starving man to a plate of food.
You really are beginning to look like hapless dupes.
How I wish your politics were as intelligent as your books.
Your a mindless ideologue. You can't accept a single idea that comes from anyplace other than the rigid platform from which you are perched.
I would think the work liberal might connote the ability to liberally interpret ideas, accepting ideas that might come from any camp.
You and other liberals constantly stand in the darkness of your closed minds. It's why you idiots lose!
Try no party affiliation and think for a change. You might find the courage to accept ideas that make sense...not that either of these jokers running has good ideas...but you wouldn't know that, would you?
I think the republicans have fooled you. While you rail against Palin and her dangerous religious connections, you set your self up.
The argument concerning Obama's fringe connections with wacky religion and racism becomes an easier target. I am sure it's coming back to haunt you.
If she is unqualified as number two because of radical religion how does Obama qualify as a potential president? He doesn't, for the same reasons. You simply choose to erase that truth.
I started the article with some hope. You hit me on every reason why I cannot belong to either of these ridiculous and usurious parties.
You id, as usual, lose me on how you arrived at your conclusion about Obama. Both are dangerous candidates for the country, and Obama is an empty suit...a useless empty suit.
You worry about McCain's choice of Palin being a heartbeat from the presidency, yet an equally unqualified ideologue, Obama, if elected will not be one beat away, HE'LL be the President who relies on his speech giving prowess and no usable skills.
You've convinced me of one thing. I will vote for no one. We are an entertainment driven culture and we are reaping what we have sown.
Sad.
