Dear Mr. McClelland,

I'm a professional musician.

Therefore, you had better not sing. Ever.

Original article: America's next top spouse

Guess what?

It's still not too late to fix this photo. The only reason for not doing so is laziness.

As for focusing on the important stuff - I have no problem with the actual article. If we can't make light of our wacky electoral process, what can we make light of? I'm capable of reading parody and still making my voting decisions based on the actual candidate rather than the candidate's spouse.

What photo are you looking at?

"It was focusing on the unsightly cellulite build-up on the back of her legs and butt. "

Except that the photo in question is a front view.

You're kidding, right?

"I know someone who was on a parole board and 'I've got my shit together' was an instant 'nope.' "

Right, because one sentence reveals a person's entire character.

If that was really the criteria for granting or not granting parole, then your parole board friend is the true idiot. As are you for judging the letter writer on the basis of one sentence.

Tired of Mac excuses

I have less than no interest in a set-top box. All of the major networks plus many other sites seem to be able to handle streaming video to my Mac. The simple fact is that it's not that Netflix *can't* do this - they have made terrible technology choices, and they net result is they *won't* do this. I'm counting the days until the class action lawsuit gets filed on behalf of Mac users who are subsidizing everyone else's unlimited access.

I repeat...

All of the major networks plus all kinds of other services are able to stream DRM-ed video to my Mac. Explain that, then tell me why Netflix isn't doing the same.

Again, it's not because they can't. It's because they allied themselves with needlessly limited technology. If someone ran an ecommerce site of any kind that only worked on one browser, would anyone really think that was a viable business venture? Somehow I doubt it.

Gettin' Jiggle With It!

"Suddenly, the famous 1992 Clinton jiggle -- "Buy one, get one free" -- has become a threat rather than a promise."

Walter, would you mine showing me a few steps - I don't remember the Clinton Jiggle. Did they do it at the Inaugural Ball?

Availability of recycling?

Isn't all of this predicated on the availability of recycling for both plastic and cans? My area recycles aluminum but not plastic!

Original article: And they're auf!

The biggest problem...

...isn't so much that this article ran now. A more obvious spoiler alert would have been nice, but let's face it - Bryant Park shows are held in public, not in some closed TV studio, so it's not really a fair accusation to say that the article is "giving things away".

The biggest problem to me is that Cintra goes out of her way to call Sweet P chubby. Even if she was (and I contend that she's healthy and curvy), it's irrelevant. Seriously, Cintra, what is gained from unfairly comparing her to the anorexic models she was surrounded by on the runway?

Original article: How will it all end?

No one knows where this is going...

...but I know one thing:

the more I hear about superdelegates, the queasier I feel about the whole deal. Having an elite, unaccountable class of people decide the convention outcome would be horribly reminiscent of the Supreme Court deciding the 2000 election. And if that happens, any promise of change made by Clinton or Obama would ring hollow.

Am I really doing this, though?

Here's what I don't understand about this logic: Things are going to get shipped no matter what. It's unrealistic to assume that if one opts not to buy flowers, X amount of greenhouse gases will be saved. If they stop shipping flowers, they'll just be grown by artificially enhanced means locally - what's the environmental impact of that? I've had this same argument with people who say you shouldn't ship packages to people as gifts because of the environmental impact. But my decision to send an e-card instead isn't going to stop the mail from being delivered across the country! If the mail is going to be delivered anyway, my package makes little difference.

Better to control what is actually in your personal control - drive less, drive a fuel efficient car, conserve your household's energy use, recycle, etc.

Hey, "Anonymous"!

So it's not even a little bit fishy that Obama got 0 votes in some places? And don't forget that Hillary got 0 votes in other places!

Are voting districts this polarized? This isn't fishy? Not even a little bit? This is just a pro-Obama conspiracy?

When I voted in the Illinois primary, I did so on a paper ballot that was scanned into a machine while I watched. Even with the paper trail my vote left behind, I found myself crossing my fingers, hoping that my vote was actually counting.

Regardless of which candidate one supports, the kind of voting discrepancies we're hearing about are insane and inexcusable. This undermines all confidence in the process - no wonder people tune out politics!

Sun/Jin

What did we learn in the Sun & Jin episode?

- That Sun is one of the Oceanic Six, a fact that will no doubt figure heavily into the rest of the show's run;

- That Sun escapes the island in time to avoid the island's "curse" on pregnant women

- That Jin has undergone a profound change on the island - he's no longer the man he was in Korea, he's capable of a huge act of forgiveness (Sun's affair) and he'll do whatever he has to do to protect Sun and the baby;

- This "whatever he has to do" could include dying, but may also include staying behind on the island. We don't know Jin is dead - the tombstone is marked with the date of the crash. We know that the Oceanic Six are lying to "protect their friends". Jin's fate is far from sealed.

How is this "not enough"?
