it's stephen colbert

right? it has to be.

to sum:

everybody who hates socialized medicine in canada is DEAD. this is because socialized medicine is so bad that the small percentage of people who are screwed over by it die so fast that they don't have a chance to vote their conscience before they die.

and also, just because people haven't gotten rid of something--socialized medicine for example--doesn't mean they like it! remember florida, 2000? ring a bell? democracy is so-so when it comes to voicing the will of the people, see. so in canada, they might have just not quite gotten around to getting rid of socialized medicine even though they hate it so very much. or maybe nothing super duper bad has happened yet. this is true not only in canada, but in italy, england, scotland, ireland, france, spain, portugal, germany, denmark, sweden, norway, belgium, luxembourg, and everywhere else.

except for here because here the opposite is true--the call for health care reform here doesn't mean that we know what we want anymore than the lack of enthusiasm for privatized health care in every other industrialized country on earth means that socialized medicine works. remember, socialized medicine KILLS the people who would vote it away.

also, i spoke to this one lady, and she said health care in canada totally sucks. so did this this other guy at this one place called a think tank. they get paid lots of money to think all day so he probably has good health care and good health outcomes so he has every reason to keep things the way they are but he totally knows what's best for you cause he's really smart, just like the lady from that other place. what's it called? i forget. whatever. don't worry about it.

and finally, socialism is evil. that's why so many people in other countries flock here to get their medical needs taken care of. i have no hard data but dude, trust me. even women who are preggo deliver babies here even though we have a higher infant mortality rate than any other industrialized country in the world. i will explain why another time, probably with no hard facts or anything so you'll just have to trust me.

hope that helps, suckers!

now that i have health insurance, i'm afraid to get treatment

sound familiar? i posted earlier, about the fact that i have two (2) health insurance policies even though i'm in my early thirties, have never smoked, work out four times per week, and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.

when i entered grad school, i was thrilled. I finally had good health care coverage--a policy that offered psychiatric/therapist coverage and drug coverage and i was thrilled that i could finally address my ADD/ADHD. but wait, i thought. if i address it, and then somehow can't afford/lose my second policy, or Something Happens and i want to work for myself and need to purchase an individual plan someday, i'll have a Preexisting Condition.

shit. my migraines too-i wanted to address my persistent migraines. but that too could be eventually used against me as a Pre Existing condition. ok so if one day, Something Happened after I got my doctorate and I no longer had my second policy (which didn't cover prescription drugs anyway), i'd have two Pre Existing conditions.

these conditions--migraines and ADD/ADHD--would mean that my fucking HEAD might not be covered. and my brain, which is in my head.

so i was scared to get treatment. finally i decided to just get treatment anyways. but there's the rub: if you can get treatment, you're scared to because you're private, personal medical records can be used to deny you treatment in the future. nice huh?

the great big scary world

it must be so anxiety inducing to fear so many things:

-the collapse of traditional marriage due to advances made by the gay agenda

-the collapse of the traditional marriage due to advances made by women's libbers

-the strain put on big companies due to the ledbetter act

-the strain put on the rich due to the expiration of Bush's tax cuts

-the terrorists might escape from an american prison and Get Us

-the terrorists might inculcate other prisoners in "radical islamism"--even those facing life imprisonment

-the socialist democrats might take away our right to not having insurance, if we're poor, our right to mediocre insurance if we're middle class, and our right to superior health insurance if we're rich

-the socialist democrats might turn us into Europe, except for without the hot french chicks

-the pro-sex, pro-baby murdering democrats might force our daughters to get inoculated against cervical warts

-the pro-baby murderers might force women to have the right to choose

this is so tiring. i can't imagine living like that.

i have a radical idea

the judges are too distracted by what women are wearing and the male lawyers fear that the women are using their sexuality to their advantaged? maybe if there were more female judges, this would be less of a problem.

what with 50% of law school grads female, and only 5% of law firm partners female, however, i won't be holding my breath for more female judges any time soon...
