250... Really?!!
That is pathetic for faux news and encouraging for the average intelligence of Americans.
If there are only 250 total idiots out of a metro area population of 7.5 million I guess we might stand a chance after all.
But I do take you to task for giving a further "megaphone" to the dumbest, must uniformed idiots in our society and making it seem as though they are anything more than the nut jobs you see at a Palin rally... Heck, I bet elephantboy might have even been there.
Sorry if I was being a bit rude, but I do believe my point is perfectly valid. Restating it a bit more clearly and perhaps civilly (although you have to admit I ain’t half as bad as the folks you have to "converse" with on Hardball)
a.) These events have been heavily promoted by Fox news and right wing media personalities, there is nothing spontaneous about them.
b.) The purpose of these staged events is to create a false sense that there is a "movement" of citizens against the new Obama administration.
c.) Like Obama or hate Obama, there is no movement. The fact that there are less than 300 of these people at an event in a metro area of over 7.5 million that has been advertised almost nonstop for a week on one of the largest TV networks in the nation IS the news story.
Interviewing this tiny group of people and presenting that information as though it were representative of the thinking of a large, spontaneous grassroots is misleading.
Just because the other so-called “journalists” in corporate owned media and the right wing outlets like Fox do this does not make any less misleading.
I consider you much better than most of the hacks working as journalists theses days… but that’s not saying much.
If you think I’m wrong I’d like to see you articulate a better defense than “I’m just doing my job.”
Sincerely
John (can you believe John1 through John761 were already taken!)
Palin has the strong support of the 25 percent of Americans that who are... well... batshit crazy and only have a single issue they really care about.
5% may want to close the boarders,
5% may want to keep ethnic minorities "in their place” .. see KKK.
5% may believe that the US is being run by alien creatures from the planet Zenoiutium
5% may want the US turned into a theocracy, just as long as the state religion is their religion and all else are excluded.
…etc.
Traditionally the republicans have gotten these votes, but they have also managed to get most of the right leaning voters who are not necessarily nuts but who could never carry a national election without the nut-job base. The not so crazy republicans will not vote for a Palin because she makes no freak’n sense whatsoever.
Palin (or any of the hundreds of Luddites out there) threatens to break that alliance beyond repair. If that were to happen the republicans couldn’t win any national office… not enough crazy people thank God.
If Palin or any other of the republican extremist were to run for the Presidency they would get 25 to 30% of the vote and loose in a landslide.
Even if its in bad taste, everyone out there has the same thought:
Just give me two hours with this jackass in a room not exceeding anything suggested by the memos. I would have this pompous, “wanna-be real man" momma's boy crying like a baby and swearing that Obama is the human that can save the earth from jack asses like himself.
In what parallel universe are you speaking?
Palin reviled herself as an empty clowns suit the second she opened her mouth after her recited convention speech to the this very second.
There is no scenario where she does not end his chances.
Come on, you're just being lazy and regurgitating the right wing spin, not to mention insulting the intelligence of most Americans.
Go whack job go!
That he is not running the country (into the ground) anymore.
Could not agree more.
Ever since the republicans took over the government they have been trying to reduce the American people to a bunch of scared-shitless ignorant Luddites.
Its time to for this generation of Americans to grow some cohonas and not jump and scream like little girls every time someone tells them the boogie man is under their bed.
...what happens when the next day Mexico shows up and says they want the northern part of their country back... gringos.
Mother Teresa... Capitalist
Hermann Goering… Diet Guru
Gandhi … Tyrant
Adolph Hitler … Zionist
Does anything the republicans say have anything to do with reality anymore?
1.) The republicans will attempted to block anyone that Obama nominates.
2.) Once Obama's selection is eventually confirmed the republicans will go into meltdown-weareallgoingtodie-mode.
3,) Their party will shrink further as a result of the nonsensical babble and bile spewed by their leadership in congress.
Rereader and elephant boy will be back trolling their little hearts out.
They support a woman's responsibilities and wisdom when it comes to her own pregnancy over the state and especially over a bunch of superstitious, hate filled protestants.
They do not believe in a literal interpretation of the bible. (In fact, the great majority of Catholics consider people pushing for a literal interpretation to be hucksters and ignorant).
They do not blindly follow so called "church leaders" when they expose nonsense, for instance.
-No modern Catholic believes the Pope is infallible.
-Almost no modern Catholics believe in excommunication or give a rat's ass about it. (by the old definition, if you talk to someone who has been divorced you are automatically excommunicated anyway).
Right wing fundamentalist protestants are very fond of announcing what Catholics believe. Salon would be better off asking average Catholics and not regurgitating what these self appointed “religious leaders” say Catholics believe.
