The supreme court has already ruled on it. The FCC can implement the fairness doctrine.

The court ruled however that the FCC was not compelled to enforce it. That's largely the loophole the rightwingnutjobs that Reagan installed at the FCC used to kill fairness on the air and let hot air balloons like Limbaugh rant unopposed.

BTW, the fairness doctrine would do nothing to limit the hate rants of Limbaugh and his ilk, its just that after they are done spewing their lies and half-truths opposing views (the truth) will have to be aired also. Right wing hate speech would shrivel like a slug in bright daylight.)

Let's face it, the great majority of Democrats are not panicking about Obama or anything close to it.

He still has two long months before he can take office and so far on the transition he has done a good job.

The frustration is that Bush is still President and the 24/7 news machine must be fed.... so what's the story:

-Economy tanking.

-Auto companies, the backbone of us manufacturing, are about to go under.

-Terrorist attacks abroad.

-And Bush is just as ideologically paralyzed, if not more, than Hover ever was.

Therefore the anxiety about this must because of Obama. Right?

Wrong. Unless we impeach Bush we're going to have to wait for help.

Yes, the top management of the big three automakers have been making stupid decisions for years along with most other short sighted executives in the US.

But this is not about a handful of shortsighted greedy scumbags. Its about the US economy and weather or not we are going to be a society that "cleans each other's houses" and lives in slums or one that makes things and lives in middle class neighborhoods. Note:(there will always be the rich who will no doubt live in gated communities.)

Don't like the idea of those rich bastards having their cushy job's saved, fine... we'll fire them as a part of any deal, but don't flush the entire industrial base of the US down the toiled because you don't like a handful of ignorant and arrogant executives.

And don't believe the shallow news reports that claim ONLY a few million jobs are at stake. The US auto manufactures set the standard for all the other manufacturers in the US and help to maintain and advance that standard. Ask anyone who knows about PPAP, or SAE standards or hundreds of other critical process that every other manufacture in the US and world depend on. If the US automakers go out of business the US will not longer be a significant player in the industrialized world.

Get ready for a steady stream of this BS from the right wing noise machine. It makes no difference who the Democrats have in office.

This is why I never liked the term the "Clinton Rules". It implies the right wing has it in for the Clintons, but in fact they just have it in for who ever the opposition is. Its the only way they know how to function.
