the true story of the dogs in eight below

The true story included 13 dogs and only two survived for three or so months alone in that hell. They didn't eat their poor dead brothers and sisters. No one really knows how these two -who managed to slip their collars- survived.

Three of the dogs were part of the malamute team of a neighbor here in Alaska. They portrayed the team leader, the three together doing the job. Love these dogs.

postscript

I would also say that the implicit contract between man and dog was ill served in this incident. They have a working relationship that cannot be cast off as something that might impact the bottom line. Up here, dogs are still used for working and no one would just mope around if their team was gone.

In the yukon quest race just recently, ten teams were lost in a blizzard. Everyone went looking. A man was separated from his team and a helicopter crew found them. THey were standing on a snow berm and looked down because dog snouts appeared at their feet. They had lay down and the snow heaped over them. I still have a smile at the image of dog snouts poking up from the snow.

You have a duty to your partners. I would have walked to Antarctica for my boys. Pure and simple. I don't know a musher who wouldn't.

Original article: The Hillary juggernaut

The trouble with the thinkers here is that NO ONE will vote for her

that I know of. I am on dozens of dem boards and no one will vote for a two-faced waffling, triangulating gas bag like her. If it was shown that she actually BELIEVED IN SOMETHING beside herself, maybe otherwise. Hype her all you want. She will not get the votes. Fuck the conventional wisdom. They haven't been right yet.

Here's what Ford set in stone...

1. you can go to jail for fifty years for stealing a car but you can walk if you are Richard Nixon because your personal flunky, Ford, will pardon you like planned.

2. politics is evil.

3. republicans, the 'law and order' party only care about law when it applies to others.

4. republicans are evil.

5. Name one other thing Ford did besides pardon Nixon?

anne coulter

Lord, I am tired of Paglia. Her Anne Coulter references are as sad as the rest of this article. Strong feminist? HA! Since when does it advance women or show a strong secure womanly sensibility to saw what she says and act the way she does? She's a bulimic rag hag in a plastic skirt, completely oblivious to her own underfed wretchedness. She actually thinks she can toss her hair and people will think that she has sex appeal. Hardly.

Paglia, get your head out of your ego and really look and listen to what people do and say. Frankly, you've become a bore.

Lordy

This museum is a vomit pile of idiotic stupidity. I wonder if they have a Wing of Biblical Contradictions? A called "Incest: How the human race began." Then maybe they can put together a wing called, "Who did Adam and Eve's kids marry?" And maybe a great "Incest Stories of the Bible" wing. Lot and all of them can cavort and titilate the square heads who not only deliberately retardate themselves but want to take us all with them.

What an utter, utter disgrace this is.

unhinged remark

Unhinged, Joan, was you on talk shows sputtering about your poor widdow Hillary being so sexist-tormented. Wes Clark is a hero of mine and I agree with you there. However, if you are going to throw around 'unhinged' like you did with John, look in a mirror first.

By the by, I was so offended by your red-faced squealing on the talk shows during the primary, I have asked for my Salon subsciption to be cancelled. You made it embarrassing to be a girl. But don't let that slow your snarky, pot-kettle self down any. K?

I live in Alaska

This is something, isn't it? Elwin9 or whatever your moniker is, these people are so much worse than anyone Obama knows that it is a marker of your IQ that you would imply otherwise.

This woman is so bad, so completely bad that I fear for our country. The AIP encourages members and fellow travelers to go out and join other parties, working their way up. Don't misunderstand that. Sarah Palin is an AIP mole.

Alaska is a wonderful place filled with wonderful people but we get all the dreamers, dumbasses and raving lunatics from the other 49 states and they find each other up here and turn rabid. They don't reflect the majority of the state nor does Palin. We hate her too.

Camilla Paglia is a birther

Why does she still have a place on this website? Aren't there enough places out there for these idiots to bloviate?

Camille Paglia Provides Much-Needed Intellectual Cred for Birthers

By Roy Edroso in Featured, PoliticsThursday, Sep. 17 2009 @ 10:20AM And you thought birtherism was just for hillbillies and Republicans! David Weigel heard Camille Paglia on NPR yesterday, where the author of Sexual Personae and UArts professor told a no doubt astonished latte-drinking audience that "there are legitimate questions about the documentation of Obama's birth certificate. I'm sorry, I've been following this closely from the start." Indeed she has; we noticed her railing on the topic as far back as November ("simple questions about the certificate were never resolved to my satisfaction"). Now that they've got a genuine intellectual on board, the birthers just need a popular entertainer to carry their message to the sheeple. Come on, Toby Keith, what are you waiting for?

So when do you restore your credibility with those of us who live in reality and cut this nut loose?
