@ GlennGreenwald

Ok but not being willing to say they'll boot him if they have more than 60, doesn't equate with them not booting him if they have more than 60. I mean if you want to talk spineless, it would look terrible if they took a public stance now along the lines of "If he's the 60th vote he's our pal, if we don't need him, he's gone."

Though I don't disagree with a general statement that congressional dems are spineless worthless sacks o' fertilizer, I just think this is one of the situations where really we won't be able to judge the congressional dems til we see how they actually act.

In fact based on how the congressional dems have performed since 2006, I've stopped listening to what they say. All that counts are their actions. Admittedly though those actions have been almost uniformly disappointing.

Follow the logic

So anyone who acknowledges the factually and neutrally true statement that they "can't deny that it will be a historic event for an African-American to become president" but supports McCain, does so because Obama is black.

One Difference

It used to be innuendo. Now its accusations.

Repubs used to imply their opponents were un-American. Now they are flat out accusing it.

When they implied it, it didn't give the MSM to sink their teeth into, or if they tried to it was easy to dismiss.

Now with accusations plus the full blossoming of the internet and everyone carrying a recording device in their pocket with a cellphone its a much different story.

@ AnnieW

Yes agreed, the punditocracy has been going there for a while, as you noted tho, and as per Mr. Greenwald's examples I was talking about the pols themselves. I think its their desperation that made the cross the line from insinuation to accusation.

Think it makes him mad?

Do you think anything can be making McCain quake with rage more than the fact that no one stood up for McCain when Bush smeared him horribly in 2000, and now that McCain is doing the same thing, everyone, many from his own party are decrying his shameful tactics?

HaHA!

Pokes a hole don't it?

I know they don't compare in scale but these and the other letters ARE terrorist attacks. The intention is definitely to strike fear in the recipients.

So this kinda pokes a hole in the whole 'there's been no terror attacks' meme the Right likes to spout, even discounting the REAL anthrax attacks they like to conveniently forget as well.

Remember the primaries

When everytime someone who said something stupid was booted from the campaign? Whatever happened to that? Someone needs to press McCain on these people.

To Kill A Mockingbird?

Obviously it was her daddy who beat her. Now blaming Obama to cover it up. Apparently she wanted Obama to bust up a chiffarobe.

Friday, October 24, 2008 06:51 AM

According to her 'original' story...

...Explain how seeing a car with a McCain sticker the attacker would know it was her car?

Friday, October 24, 2008 11:15 AM

The question is

Will those who called for swift justice against the perp stand by their calls for vengeance now that this douchebag is the perp?

I hope so!

For those that feel sorry for her, take a look at the big picture: She tried to influence the election by lying about an imaginary black man attacking her. I say throw the book at her.

Friday, October 24, 2008 12:31 PM

Its True

If Obama hadn't insisted on doing better in the polls by running a better campaign, McCain wouldn't have had to go negative, right?

Friday, October 24, 2008 12:39 PM

If you work for the McCain campaign

And you aren't this makeup artist, you gotta be pissed.

Stories like this will accelerate the 'rats deserting a sinking ship' effect I hope.

@ jtanneru - Try this one

What's the Difference between a Hockey Mom and a Pitbull?

23,000 dollars worth of lipstick.

What else is there to cover?

She's vapid vacuous and unsuited. Everyone knows that. People either care or don't.

At least we can (if your goal is to defeat McCain) damage her image as a jane six-pack.

What is the difference between a pitbull and a hockey-mom?

$23,000 worth of lipstick.

Original article: Obama defines the moment

Too early?

I dont have a lot of experience in these matters, but with almost 2 weeks still left, isnt it a bit early for a closing?

Original article: McCain says he's not losing

Barely dissed Rush

Very quickly McCain answered 'no' then moved on just as quickly when asked if he agreed with Rush that the Powell endorsement was all about race.

This is where I think McCain needs to be confronted on, to what degree is he in agreement with the element of his supporters who are his supporters almost solely based on bigotry.

Show him or Palin some of the numerous vid clips of their supporters spouting there hate and ask "Are these your real Americans? Are they patriots? Are the the people whose support you want?"

Sunday, October 26, 2008 09:26 AM

Don't worry

You'd be a fool if you think a dem congress working with a dem president won't provide ample fodder for comedians.

Sunday, October 26, 2008 09:59 AM

What surprises me about McCain

Is for all the character and stuff he's sposed to have, how come he's always grinning like an idiot?

I bet he'd get 3 points in the polls if he just presented himself as a serious sober executive who's, due to the state of everything is taking everything seriously.

Monday, October 27, 2008 06:14 AM

Where was

Where was the Barack girl this weekend?

Monday, October 27, 2008 06:50 AM

The other problem

Playing the 'cocky' card also kinda acknowledges you're losing.

Original article: Palin 2012 begins

She won't do well with the scrutiny

Considering how she comports herself and all the problems discovered so far with the way she governs I don't think 4 years of media scrutiny is going to help her standing with the public come 2011.

Monday, October 27, 2008 10:50 AM

Parse the sentence and it makes more sense.

Perhaps in the sentence "From my use of the [Washington] Post’s (not always reliable) search engine..." The parenthetical comment refers to the subject and not the object?

It makes much more sense if you read it that way.

Original article: Say it ain't so, John!

No Pity

She chose to play the game.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 06:20 AM

Good video

I hope someone like Brave New Films, makes a documentary about all the racial, fearmongering, anti semitic, anti black, anti muslim hatred and ugliness to be used for future elections, called: The Modern Republican Party.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 06:24 AM

@ dartvader

Thats the proof. People hate their brother-in-law

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 06:45 AM

No hope

I think due to the times and circumstances McCain couldn't have won even if he'd run an honorable campaign... but at least he'd still have his honor.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 07:29 AM

Not unnoticed by me.

I'd vote for her over Obama.
