"Too many posters seem to think that whether or not they vaccinate their kids is their own business and no one else's."
I guess you're referring to me :)
And I'm going to take the hardcore view:
I don't give a fuck about anyone else's kids. We got 6 billion people on this planet and I don't think its so bad if we don't all continue to behave as if every single one is precious and should be saved. If you are a man of science you'd realize that any species in a closed environment with limited resources that takes the approach that its life should be allowed to grow with impediment is doomed to die out and take a lot of other species with it.
Sorry I had to get big picture on you. But thats what this attitude leads to. Right now the people on this planet operate under the deluded and eventually self-eliminating belief that ANYTHING that impedes human growth is a universal evil and anything that promotes human growth is a human good. Scientifically, evolutionarily speaking how sustainable is that?
"I want some basic level of say in the raising of yours"
I understand that motivation but within the context of our country, our taxes and your right to say, you do have a basic level say. Your vote. Thats it.
AT&T is helping to pay for the Democratic convention, the one that the Dems were having trouble getting the funds for, and the Dems just caved in telco immunity?!?!?
AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
Farewell enthusiasm from '06. Goodbye exuberance and hope at the prospects of an Obama presidency. Hellooooo apathy, welcome back my old friend.
between not being able to function due to mental illness, and resisting doing something you don't want to do?
Hard if not impossible to say, yet I'd recommend taking a good hard look at yourself and your desires before jumping to any conclusions.
What I discovered with myself is that my conscious self is far more manipulatable to external desires than I would have like to have thought and when it comes down to it what comes easy to me is what I want to do, what I force myself to do is eventually a waste of my time. This hasn't led me to any great heights of success by current standards but I'm far happier than I'd be I think than if I'd forced myself along a path that wasn't right for me. Life is good and I'm at peace.
Start by eschewing traditional definitions of modern happiness, material wealth and status. Perhaps though you may think you want them, they are not right for you.
Take the test, prepping as you may and see what happens. Then try to open yourself up if not to what you want to do, at least to avoid what you don't want to do, you may be surprised.
Lastly before anyone else says it: this is probably horrible advice.
So Saddam DID have wmd's that he planned to give to al-queda after helping them plan and carry out 9/11 since he didn't need them anymore cause he was making nuclear weapons?
Adopt a losing strategy! So much for knowing how to win a war.
You figure if the NYTimes was trying to PREVENT McCain's 'brilliant' writing from being read the last thing they'd do is reject it in the way they did. Now EVERYONE is going to read it.
1. Its just plain stupid to compare who'd got it worse. It doesn't matter who has it worse its just stupid to compare.
2. It shows a shocking lack of cognitive and critical faculties to make judgments about concepts that cover attitudes towards HUGE groups of people (i.e. all black people or all women) based on how a few individuals are treated. In other words, while it is possible that sexism is worse than racism, you couldn't come to that conclusion based on how Hillary or Katie have done because you can't discount the possible flaws and failing they may have as individual people. Katie may be a crappy anchor, Clinton may be a crappy presidential candidate.
Let's face it, everytime he speaks he reveals his ignorance or his futile holding on to of policies that just out of touch with the populace. Look at his vigagra/birth-control moment. If the MSM didn't handle him so timidly that alone could sink him.
Just because Bush uses the word doesn't mean the word has 'trickled up' The man has a sophomoric mentality.
There are plenty of people who are stupid or disconnected from reality under the age of 70. Take George Bush for example. Call it what you want, disoriented, confused, out-of-touch, disconnected. If McCain supporters accuse you of ageism, simply reply you never mentioned his age and further point out that their accusation DOESN'T discount or deny your initial charges and ask them if they then agree with you, if not what is their counterargument?
Evolution in action.
With 6 billion people on the planet and valid woes enough to keep the non-profit world going for eons, do we need to be concerned about people who are dangerous to themselves through stupidity?
Watching the segment about the anthrax investigation on the NewsHour and as they talk about how the fbi considers Ivans the lone culprit and the anthrax came from a gov't lab I can't help wonder when they will investigate obstruction of justice charges against the four separate government sources that told ABC the anthrax came from Iraq?
Four separate sources come up with the same false story? Sounds like conspiracy charges would be justified too.
Yes I want to see Eve Mendez's nipple!
Aside from purely rubbernecking reasons why is this being investigated and discussed? He holds no office, he has no position in gov't. He is a private citizen.
GET OVER IT
