Original article: Is race dying?

@ Anonymous

"Cause, like, when a bunch of white thugs jumped on a black high school kid, and beat him badly, why did white leaders march to get the white thugs out of jail?"

It's all about equality before the law. Black folks NEED to mobilize to protect their own against the system. May I point you to the case of Terri Shiavo? Whole government mobilized, passed new laws to protect her dead ass. Ever watch or read mainstream news? Notice how they lose the minds when some white person goes missing? Come on!

And how about those black college athletes framed for rape by a white stripper? Yeah and all those professors who publically proclaimed the guilt of the black athletes - man how racist can you be?

You want to tally up the number of innocent black people hanged, murdered, convicted, sentenced to meet a quota or close a file since it was convenient? Do I even need to mention decades of black men being murdered for looking at a white woman? Come on!

Oh and let's not forget the white superstar who murdered his black wife, and got away with it because a white jury refused to convict him.

That case was about money not race. As the famous white comedian Chris Rock said: If OJ drove a bus, he'd be Orenthal the Bus Driving Murderer. Also, see my previous comment.

Feeling comfy yet, couz? You either havent thought this out or you are racist too. Either way, piss off.

I'm not saying the cases you point out aren't wrongs but when you compare the handful of instances where minorities have gotten away with something or have escaped being screwed to the the countless of daily wrongs over the centuries up to the present, then YOU are the racist if you can't see the inequality. I could write pages listing the CURRENT wrongs. Or I could ask you simply how you'd like to be a innocent black man with a cop's nightstick up your ass?

@ ChillyDogg

"Sorry to tell you but it's been scientifically proven through DNA that "races" do not exist. It's been shown that there is more genetic diversity among the so called "races" than between them. There is only one "race", the Human Race.

I hear ya Chilly, but we were talking about real life not laboratory life.

And how many black people in that lab!?!? (just kidding)

@ paradoctor

"So we humans are genetically programmed to over-react to a genetically irrelevant difference. Racism is in our genes, even though race is not!

It's just another one of Mother Nature's little jokes."

Racism isn't in our genes, neither is it a joke. The human mind is genetically designed to group everything into categories as a mechanism to deal with the vast variety that reality presents us in order to NOT go insane.

The concept of 'us vs. them' is part of that. You can't successfully deal with life unless your mind has dealt with the 'us vs. them' dynamic on a host of issues. The difference between tribalism and racism is racism is inherently disrespectful where as tribalism sharply defines us and them but makes no automatic denigrating all encompassing judgments about 'Them'. Racism says, "we are us, they are them, and they suck" Tribalism and the genetic impulse it is responding to merely says, "We are us, everyone else is them." and that is all it says.

Great Moments in Politics

"But, of course, I would imagine that Muslims could serve as lower levels of my administration."

Got to think that quote is going to inspire some radical to put down his vest bomb and sign up for a post as a low level republican hack.

Tribalism does not equal Racism

The human mind in order to deal with the vast quantities of data the average person absorbs constantly, groups data into more manageable categories. It's not necessarily fair or accurate but it's functional. In human organizational terms this dynamic of grouping can best be described as the need to identify people as 'us or them'.

Tribalism is an expression of 'us or them'. Thats all. It makes no judgments about 'them', it simply denotes 'them'. Naturally tribal people have opinions about other tribes but those opinions merely reflect their judgments as thinking people, not a genetic dynamic at work. The genetic dynamic at work in tribalism is simply, we are us, everyone else is them.

Racism is a judgment and says: we are us, they are them, and they suck.

They don't compare at all.

Smooth move

To the argument that Hillary is unelectable because she will motivate Republicans to get out and vote, Barbara Streisand is NOT going to help.

Wrong Comparison

Yes, comparing Hillary to Bush is silly on so many levels. However if what is being compared is Bush's arrogance, then perhaps it would be more accurate to frame the comparison as being between Hillary and Cheney. Ambition and blinders-on, ends-justifying-the-means hunger for power.
