Seeing as how Huck's motivation for not giving away land in Israel in order that it be a whole state so god can come and destroy it before sending all jews to hell for eternity, I'm not sure you've got a handle on this situation.

While I do believe the dynamics of our global society are driven by economics, and the small percentage of people who control the vast majority of the wealth, the 'paymasters' if you will, you'd be doing them a favor if you insist on believing that racial, ethnic or religious differences are to be blamed rather than their simple greed and sense of entitlement of their own power.

Racial, national, ethnic and racial tensions are a diversion that keeps those with power safely in power. Whoever and whatever 'they' are, they are first and foremost the people with wealth and power. All else is secondary, if not completely irrelevant.

If the neighborhoods of Baghdad are quiet now because they've been 'cleansed' can you call it a success?

If you assume that Klein has an anti-dem agenda (and it's either assume that or assume he is an idiot) then, rather than wonder at his breathtaking lapse in journalistic standards, admire him for hitting one out of the park for his team. The story combined with the accompanying photo and caption in Time magazine is certainly a spectacular effort in character assassination, and to have done it in such a national venue indicates that Mr. Klein is not a terrible journalist, for it can be fair to say he is not a journalist at all, but an extremely effective operative for whomever he represents.

I can only hope I should be as successful in any endeavor I undertake.

When Mr. Halperin asserted that political reporters don't get it, he proved his point nicely right there for us in his article by holding up Bush as an example of election success. It will be remembered that Bush LOST the popular vote in 2000. After the campaign in 2000, MORE people voted for Gore than for Bush. In 2004 Bush won again but only due to massive electoral fraud and vote rigging in Ohio.

He proves it again by acting if Clinton wasn't in real terms, i.e. the wealth, health and happiness of your average American, a spectacularly successful president. Especially if you wanted to convince your special lady that its ok to get a knobber on the side.

Let's be clear, rape is not funny.

However, ANYTHING can be funny.

Sam Kinison did a whole stand-up routine about it based on dare that somethings aren't funny, specifically rape.

But not the reality. I'm half black, half white and I live in NYC. Never been arrested, never been in trouble with the cops, yet I'm prepared if a police officer speaks to me, to put my hands up in front of me, palms out and open and say calmly, "Officer, I am non-aggressive and cooperative."

Now I wonder why that would be?

Regardless of ANY other factor, non-equal treatment before the Law is THE only meaningful indicator of race relations in America.

I wonder what those poll results had they been couched in terms of the law? As in: Before the law are you...."

Let's not forget that there is more than one race. John Gibson and Bill O'Reilly of Fox News during primetime telecasts urged white people to have more babies lest white people lose their majority. Now to me that does NOT sound like race is dying. If anything, it's just pausing while it gathers its strength for a new round of horror.

(Yes I know Fox News is full of it, but nonetheless they are a major mainstream source of information, even if its wrong)

Of course it doesn't matter. Racial, ethnic, religious, national identifications are all a red herring when you consider that 2% of the population owns 90% of the wealth. Economic classifications are the only real meaningful indicators of inequality.
