  • Netflix Freak

[Read the article: Why Blockbuster is gaining on Netflix]

Well...I am one but that is not what I am referring to.

If you use OS X there is a great app called Netflix Freak available at "thelittleappfactory.com".

While it won't help you get your data out of Netflix and INTO Blockbuster it WILL let you get and keep your Netflix data and also allow you to add your own notes to each movie title. It also has lots of other cool features. I highly recommend it. It's not free ($15) but I find it to be one of my must have apps.

  • blinking and code...

I can't really believe I am coming to the defense of Double-A but her comment regarding the use of the blackened goggles on Padilla might have had some basis in truth.

She is old enough to remember (as am I) that one of our POW's held by North Vietnam was paraded out in front of the cameras once to basically tell everyone how well they were being treated but at the same time he did in fact use his eyelids to blink out the word torture in Morse code. As I recall, his captors later gave him another severe beating after they found out about what he did.

So that may have been in her mind when she made that statement.

As far as Double-A being the stupidest woman alive - while she might be on that shortlist I think Malkin and Coulter have to be higher on the list than her.

"Is it supposed to evoke images of paper books being burned?"

One of the other definitions of kindle might be what they had in mind...

arouse: call forth (emotions, feelings, and responses)

The Kindle has certainly aroused the passions of both the lovers and the haters of this device.

  • the occasional video only please...

[Read the article: Our partnership with Current]

While it might be nice to occasionally see the folks that make the content for Salon I really do not want video to supplant any written words.

Video (for me anyway) rarely adds anything of substance to a topic. Just the opposite usually.

  • Oooh...it's scavenger hunt day on Salon!!!

"cri de coeur" - both you and King Kaufman used this French phrase in articles today.

Was that just coincidence or was that a result of a staff meeting "Friday-fun" challenge?

Now I have to read every column today and find all the other users of that phrase.

Oh...re:Margaret Cho - I'm with the others who think she used to be funny for a brief period of time, many years ago.

  • Want to buy your book but...

Was looking forward to buying a copy of your new book.

However, I see that it is not available in Kindle format? WTF!!!

I guess I'll just wait until my local library gets a copy.

  • The lobbyists are already hard at work

[Read the article: Google wins by losing wireless auction to Verizon]

Wait until Verizon and AT&T's lobbyists get done with doing their thing.

Who wants to bet that these open access rules remain when the spectrum is actually put to use?

  • Bravo!!

    Bravo Gary, bravo!!!

(You can't see it but I am giving you a standing ovation)

  • Kindle format????

I would prefer to buy your new book in Kindle format but it does not appear to be available for pre-order.

Is your book going to be available in Kindle format on release day? If not why not?

  • future hiring pool dried up????

With so many school districts having difficulty finding people who want to teach how smart is it for institutions to engage in these kinds of stupid, punitive overreactions?

Since the vast majority of college kids these days are likely to have such pix on their web pages are we soon going to end up with no new teachers actually entering the labor pool?
