  • McCain pimps himself

[Read the article: "Journey to Freedom"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Look, I can see how McCain's campaign wants to present an image that will enhance his chances of being elected, but please! This guy was no Audie Murphy. The fact that he went through his harrowing experience should've made him wary of careless military adventures. Instead, he seems willing to expose others to the nightmare he went through. And to what end? He drinks the Kool-Ade of AIPAC and the neocons and offers no real rationale of why we're in Iraq. Why not do a video of why he thinks were over there, and back it up with FACTS?

  • Who doesn't have crazy uncles?

[Read the article: The crazy uncles in Obama's attic]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Obama is not unique. Capitol Hill has enough people there who can probably be counted on to have some off people in their own lives. I think that the main point is that regardless of where Obama came from, where he's going isn't likely to be pleasing to his "crazy uncles" or his current supporters. Being the president of the United States requires more than community values or home church schooling. Now Clinton couldn't keep his zipper shut and Bush was, is and always will be dumb. As for Obama's chances, who knows?

  • Enough for what?

[Read the article: Was Obama's speech enough?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

What is the point of Obama's speech? Does he or doesn't he share the black radicalism that Wright evoked? That's simple. Instead, he tried to blow smoke up the backsides of his listeners. In my experiences with blacks, I find that the paranoia, conspiracy mongering, and resentment all too common even among more prosperous blacks. Post OJ, white america should have more sense than accept Obama at face value. I've got a better idea for Obama, get Rev.Wright to do presser. Then he can explain his views and why Obama should be president.

  • Takes one to know one

[Read the article: Murtha endorses Clinton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Lovely. A corrupt politician endorses Hillary. Must have something in common.

  • You dropped a bomb on me, baby.

[Read the article: Bomb, bomb Iran?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Of course he wants to bomb Iran. I considered his "gaffe" to be equal parts old age and Freudian slip. AIPAC and the neocons are out to get "Greater Israel" back on track with B.B.Netenyahoo getting his old job back. With McCain, they've got a willing dupe to do it. But don't count out either Obama or Hillary. The dems have knelt before AIPAC on Iran, so the odds are better than 50/50 the deal gets done within the first 6 months of ANY administration. Pity, but a nation of Sheeple gets the government they deserve.

  • Can't move when you're stuck in the mud

[Read the article: Moving beyond Obama and race]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Obama isn't moving anywhere. More and more info on Rev.Wright is popping up to suggest that he's a typical race baiter. As that factors into the debate, Obama looks like a fraud. As he casually puts his mother and grandmother down, he makes himself that much difficult to accept as a uniter rather than a follower of Wright's beliefs. No, we are not moving beyond race. We are going to be treated to a nasty campaign that whips up old ghosts from the past. It may be that we never get past race in America.

  • Oops, there it is!

[Read the article: Expel, expelling, expelled!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Knee-jerk wingnuts throw out wrong man. If they have nothing to fear, why do it? The few times journalists check on the happenings in cloud cuckoo land, the people in question flip out. If you get down to the heart of it, it's about collection plate politics. Getting people in the pews means feeding them whatever fertilizer you can concoct. What better way than to frame a titanic battle between good(relgion) and evil(science)? Of course trying to get all sorts of government giveaways is frosting on the cake. Sad. What's worse is how many people fall for it.

  • Change at the top means change at the bottom (Bottom line that is)

[Read the article: Ask the pilot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I had a feeling when Herb Kelleher of Southwest Airlines retired things would go downhill. New CEO wants to make more money so....Boom! Cut corners and save money. If planes crash, well, that's what flight insurance is for. BBQ the new CEO's backside and run him out of town. Maybe he can be "Spitzered." Could happen.

  • Hey, that's not McCain's song!

[Read the article: Hallelujah, it's raining McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Hold on there! McCain once told Tony Snow he like the group 9 inch Nails. (His daughter's fave.) Huh! Thought you had me fooled!

  • How would you know?

[Read the article: Rev. Jeremiah Wright isn't the problem]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You destroyed your point by admitting you don't enough about Wright to say if he's like the black demogogues. I've starting seeing more come out about him. Typical blame whitey polemics. The war is wrong, but to excuse Wright without taking into account his entire record is lazy. Obama did not give a speech that did a diddle to clarify his own positions. Take a time out and get back to us when you really know what you're talking about.

  • Surprise! US TV sucks!

[Read the article: What can and cannot be spoken on television]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Of course you don't hear that sort of thing on US programming. When I was overseas last year, BBC's Dateline London did a feature on Iraq. One of the guests was an Arab who pointed out that the British forces in Iraq did very little outside of training some local forces. They spent the bulk of their time trying to keep from getting killed. That contrasts sharply with the way the British presence was portrayed in the media. Now this analyst was not sympathetic to the "bad guys." In fact he was greatly concerned about Iran gaining nukes. But he was honest enough to admit what was going on. Our media would never do this. Sad.

  • Ah, to be free from reality

[Read the article: The return of Joementum]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It must be nice to be Joe. Doesn't let anything bother him about doing what he wants. Doesn't care about the dems nor the american people. Just devotes himself to keeping the war on terror on track. Such a life.

  • 124 Years Can't Be Wrong

[Read the article: Rum, Romanism and James Carville]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Well, consistancy is a good thing, I guess. If people actually got smarter in that time, it would have showed up years ago. Nope, in fact this might be good news for Creationists. Darwin's theory of evolution doesn't seem to work. We are not evolving.
