McCain is a politcian. Politician=Phony
[Read the article: McCain: Reformer or phony?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Of course he's a phony. During his last run for the white house, he claimed he'd out pork hungry senators. Then on the floor of the senate, his fellow senators stood ready with a list of his pork. He decided not to name names. His whole racket after the Keating 5 scandal was to portray himself as humbled and dedicated to being a reformer. Notice how that worked out.

No honor among thieves
[Read the article: Dems join in lobby story fundraising]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]They all do it. Don't they? Everyone in DC is raising money. To what end? To benefit the american people? What has DC done for the average citizen? The Keating 5 story did nothing to stop this nonsense. Think anyone will change now?

The truth hurts
[Read the article: Surge coauthor believes Clinton would wait on withdrawal]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Ah,that slick Hilly. She's still triangulating and doggone if this military hack spills the beans. The trick is that team Hillary can't slime him without making herself really look bad. Of course she won't pull troops out. She has her campaign contributors to think about. Military-industrial complex anyone?

McCain and Iran
[Read the article: The Iran hawks' latest surge]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]McCain never saw a war he didn't like. Reporters who covered him in 2000 commented about his tendency to go a little off when discussing the Cuban who tortured him in Vietnam. Not to belittle his fate, but it does sound like McCain isn't quite all there. Doesn't that make him a risky choice for prez? Be that as it may, Hillary is as likely to attack Iran as McCain. Frankly, even Obama is likely to fall into line with all the heat AIPAC will throw at the dems. Yep, Iran is a target.

What, me worry about Iraq?
[Read the article: Former advisor: Obama's Iraq plan "best-case scenario"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If Obama gets into the white house, he will be engulfed in inside the beltway conventional wisdom. Congressional Dems with military contractors to appease will advise caution in getting out of Iraq. AIPAC and its allies will object to leaving before confronting Iraq. Republicans will stroke their base by screaming about death before dishonor. The bottom line is that Obama would do like most presidential contenders and check his campaign promises at the door to the white house. That is true for Hillary and McCain as well.

Silly reporter, tricks are for kids! (Not politicians)
[Read the article: Tucker Carlson unintentionally reveals the role of the American press]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Tucker Carlson just had a gaffe. You know, the old Washington thing where a politician accidentally tells the truth? Our good old MSM knows where its bread is buttered. Ask real questions? Please! That said, the British media isn't completely superior thanks to their laws regarding reporting. Try checking "Lobbygate" and Tony Blair. American ex-pat reporter Greg Palast was unable to do the story due to the laws in Merry Old England. And you know what Blair did while being Prime Minister...

Say it ain't so, Joe!
[Read the article: Some free advice for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Whoa, Joe! Slow down. You seem awfully eager to let the Clintons off the hook. Yes, they might well have little to show by releasing their financials, but that doesn't mean that they're squeaky clean. Yes, Obama is doing a little Chicago shuffle. (As do many Chicago politicians, sadly.) But you seem bent on giving the Clintons a pass. (Bill is rehabbing his image. Really?) You've opined before that you are not taking sides. Fine. But try a little harder on that one. Ok?

Hillary, Rush and Barbie?
[Read the article: Hillary's race against time]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Ah, Hillary. So desperate. So clueless. The burning sense of entitlement. Those that support her don rose colored glasses. Those that oppose her wear X-Ray specs and carry barf bags. Rush? He is no purist. If the Devil would ran as a Republican, Rush would campaign for him. Barbie? In style today, but what about tomorrow?

Ghost of Reagan
[Read the article: John McCain runs for George Bush's third term]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Close your eyes and listen to McCain speak. Doesn't he sound like Ronald Reagan? The thing is that it won't be Bush's third term, it'll be Reagan's. While Bush is stupid, McCain is just in the early stages of either senility or some other age related problem. Which was the way Reagan entered the white house. Old video of Reagan as the governor of California and then his first term as president showed two different men. What McCain does has less to do with what he believes than what his advisors tell him. Again, that was the way Reagan operated. While Bush's handlers may have co-opted some of Reagan's policies, McCain will hew to them even more as he will be more dependent on his advisors than Bush was. (Bush just listened to Cheney and I doubt one person could handle the temperamental McCain.) So if you loved the 80's, get ready.

Christopher Hitchens on the secular left?
[Read the article: I don't believe in atheists]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Uh, there seems to be something amiss here. Hedges wants to dump Hitchens into the secular left. Then he admits that Hitchens USED to be on the left. A little misleading, don't you think? Hitchens supposedly saw the light when Ronald Reagan was prez and joined the right. Now he supports the neocons. He obviously is secular, but please don't try to connect him to the left. Secularism is hardly the scourge that Hedges would have us believe. Is it ok for religious hacks to scam donations out of thier flocks? Senator Grassley doesn't think so. Does a secular opposition mitigate that simply because they don't support religion? Believers versus non-believers shouldn't be used to cloud issues in today's world.

Harlan Hollerin'
[Read the article: Still has a mouth, and still must scream]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Part of this is schtick. The cranky writer who loathes his readers. Rather than stop reading his works, they attribute his nature to being part of his "genius." I get that. No problem. If a writer's work is good, he doesn't have to be good as a person. But is he really smarter than the people he puts down? Kind of makes me think if her were in a debate like the late William F Buckley was with Gore Vidal, he would freak out because after all, he's just human.

Geraldine will not apologize
[Read the article: Geraldine Ferraro still needs to apologize]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Really, asking her to apologize flies in the face of what this woman is about. In many ways, she is a forerunner of Hillary Clinton. Shady financial dealings, uncomfortable in front of crowds, willing to do anything to win. Why not just be glad she's getting out of the campaign? If only Hillary would follow her.
