I was repeatedly raped as a child by a guy about Polanski's age. I understand the victim's desire for anonymity as I too remember seeing my abuser's mug on the evening news and I not wanting to testify at any trial (he got picked up for raping another boy by the cops).

You raise some good points. I agree with you that with whatever reform we are saddled with, the issue of cost will not be solved. This bill will be like manna from heaven for the insurance industry, who gobble up the usual 30 % for themselves, with none of that portion going to actual delivery of care. In my opinion, we will all be better off if the health care industry is completely destroyed, forever.

Just because you practice medicine doesn't mean you know shit about healthcare financing, economics, or how insurance companies work. You know only what you experience. True, physicians do experience a lot of headaches and frustration, and most rail against insurance companies, but this doesn't make them experts in how the health care system works as a whole. They don't have any special knowledge that the rest of us couldn't research, read, or study. And most physicians don't take the time to thoroughly research the industry to become well-versed experts.

I think most physicians intuitively know from their experience and having read journals that the system if massively fucked-up and does not focus on the patient. But this doesn't make them experts.
