Joan, in fact you do know...

You keep writing, in answer to your question, "Can right-wing hate talk lead to murder?" that you "don't know." I think you've answered your own question and that answer is a resounding "yes!"

And, as others here have pointed out, the level of violence will increase as the economic downturn deepens. Rush, Newt, O'Reilly, etc., whip up hysteria and hatred to line their coffers. I also think they have fun doing it. They are despicable. And, NO, they will NEVER apologize; you are giving them too much credit. Right-wing zealots will never apologize, this much I *DO* know. They are, in fact, happy when one of their own takes to violence, otherwise, they would not spew the crap they do.

OH MY GOD!

White Racists in the military? I would never have thought that! Who knew? The Iraq War is racist? But Bush/Cheney and Fox News told me that it was fought to liberate them?

The AMA is reactionary

It's the equivalent of a good 'ol boys club. Privileged and they historically don't give a fuck about health care, only their "businesses" and their investments. Fuck 'em. We don't need scum like that, steam roll them over and make them cry uncle.

Now, the nurses, that's a different story. Notice the economics here.

Physicians for a National Health Plan. God love 'em.

Fucking Loser and a Fraud

I'll NEVER vote Democratic again. Ever. I'm through and I have thrown my two cents to the Socialists.

Fuck Obama. Piece of shit.

@pragma

Amen.

We need a large socialist party. There exists the SPUSA, Solidarity, and the Democratic Socialists. All, far, far to the left and more progressive than any Democrat.

@pragma

Or the Greens, they are progressive, too.

The US is...

pretty much a corporate fascist shit-hole. That's why we don't have parental leave, universal, single-payer health care and policies that are parent-friendly (vacation, sick leave, flextime). The people pay the price for this in terms of stress, and dysfunctionality caused by this stress.

And, by the way, there won't be ANY gains with NOBAMA in office, sad to report. No public option for health care, no repeal of DADT, and DOMA, and no mandatory paid leave. Forget it folks, it WILL NOT happen. NOBAMA has shown his true colors already and they aren't pretty. [And please shut the fuck up you whiners who plead "Oh, just give him time." You're the ones with your head up your ass.] And y'all can quote me years from now when you wonder what the fuck happened.

Vote socialist or green in 2010. We need to destroy the Democrats.

It isn't going to happen

The Obama fans in my neighborhood still think Obama is going to fight for a public option. He won't. He's a wimp and a failure. You heard it from me: it won't happen.

Sober Reading about Obama and Health Care Reform

From a socialist perspective...Solidarity publishes "Against the Current", a hard-hitting, tell-it-like-it-is publication for working people. Here you go, the latest article online about Obama and the insurance companies.

@Xanax

When you're crying in a couple years because NOTHING has changed, and nothing will, with this two-party system, don't blame me. The Democrats and the Republicans need to be destroyed, and quickly. We have a far-right and a center-right party and both are screwing working people royally. Obama is a massive fraud.

Now, if you don't get that, if you haven't figured that out, if you think that there are substantial differences between two parties who both receive obscene amounts of corporate largess, I would say that's pretty dumb. Either you aren't paying attention, or you can't think scientifically (maybe both). In fact, the majority of Americans is asleep at the wheel, and sadly, we all pay the price (look at the shit-hole mess we are in, the product of 30 years of de-regulated capitalism).

The lone Democrat to get this is Dennis Kucinich. I still can't understand why he continues to be a member of the Democratic Party.

Sanford flew to New York

Where he met his male lover and the two had some hot steamy sex in a gay bath-house with dozens of other men while using crystal meth. He now has to take several days off to come down from his high before he goes back to work.

Republican Family Values! Southern Style.

Maybe next year we'll see him coming out while carousing at the Southern Decadence party in New Orleans.

I agree

This Ricci case should never have gone to court. If the city agreed on testing its workers, it should have abided by its word and used the test as criteria for promotion. Yes, it is true, some tests do have biases, and most probably do. The city should have tested its tests before it administered the tests; in other words, the city should have detected the bias earlier, not after the results had come back. There are loads of consultants the city could have hired.

I am a white male, although a fag. I know what it is to be both favored, and discriminated against. I've been denied promotions, and jobs, because I'm gay, or was perceived that way, I suspect, although I cannot prove it. That's the tricky thing about job discrimination; it's almost impossible to prove.

Let me say that minorities almost always have a tougher time in life, and that the bar is actually HIGHER for African-Americans than for whites, simply because statistically they tend to come from poorer families, because they work with so much less, as educators well know, and have more obstacles to overcome, whether it's safety, sleep, nutrition, abuse, a quiet place to study, job constraints, etc. I tutor inner city youth, and see first hand the difficulties these youth endure, whether black or white. So, from that perspective, we are talking about a class issue here.

It is true that these firefighters could have studied and made gains taking the test, but I don't know if such intensive, individualized training was available.

And no, I don't believe that heterosexual white men are being discriminated against across the board. I don't believe that this is a mass phenomenon, that sounds delusional to me.
