Original article: Palin vs. Couric

What does "Washington Outsider" Mean?

Does it mean ignorant and incompetent? She thought that she should have been elected simply because she believes that she's a "real" American, as if Real Americans don't know anything about the world?

I'm going to puke...

The few times I've read Paglia here on Salon I thought that she was amusing. Now, as I was reading, I said to myself, "She must be a professor somewhere." Not knowing anything about her, I read or biography at the end of the piece - Yes, she's a professor, and it shows.

One of the reasons I despised graduate school was because of the faculty. Well over half, no, more like 90%, thought that they were at the center of universe; that all of us were waiting for the next publication (I was in chemistry). I talked with the humanities students from time to time, and it was the same over there: our universities are full of self-centered, narcissistic dumb-shits who really believe the shit they write. There is no fucking way half these people could make a living in commerce or industry, it would just be too damn demanding!

Paglia's piece is meandering, dull, full of nonsense, not cutting at all. It's like she's drooling on the page. It was difficult to read. Ugh. Go away, Camille.

@ Mamajazz

Anyone notice how he whined and blamed everyone! Everyone was accused of playing the "race card" against him but who specifically started it with the Clinton's and then followed with the pre-emptive strike against McCain..."they'll say I have a strange name and did you notice, he's black"?

Provide a link where Obama accused anyone of "playing the race card" or when he is whining about his race. I don't mind criticism of Obama, hell, he wasn't my first choice, but I NEVER remember him whining. Palin, however, is a typical Republican: she lies like a rug AND she WHINES. Republicans never take responsibility, that is their national trait.

Reeves CANNOT ACT

He has sucked in every film I've seen him.

High schoolers in Thespian societies are better actors. How this guy gets parts is unknown to me.

Typical Republican Slime

The Republican Party is the equivalent of a putrid cesspool of stinking garbage.

GUPTA SUCKS

And not in a good way :-0

Just because he's a neurosurgeon doesn't mean he's a progressive or can think independently about health policy. He's NOT a health policy expert. He is, quite simply, a corporate whore for the medical/pharmaceutical industry (think Fred Thompson folks). Going to medical school is not a big deal and doesn't qualify you for every position under the sun. Being a progressive and speaking truth to power, donating your skills for the poor, working in underserved areas, and taking down these corporate whores on TV IS a big deal. Gupta is no big deal: he's an average whore for the wealthcare industry.

@zumalicious

I think your judgment is seriously impaired. You're right that the position of Surgeon General is one primarily of an advocate. I have no doubt that Gupta can present complex issues in a coherent way for the lay person.

But what we need is not another corporate whore in the position to tell us all what we know not to be true: that our current system of healthcare delivery is just fine. Our biggest health risk is precisely that healthcare is a commodity, for-profit system. This kills people and leads to untold millions of untreated conditions. The country is in deep shit and Gupta will absolutely say nothing to the contrary. He is a terrible choice; and there are hundreds of others who will do exactly what he will do. He's not exceptional in any way.

If Obama were brave, he would appoint a strong advocate who will expose the lies and falsehoods of the wealthcare industry.

If I am wrong (I would love to be wrong in this case) about Gupta you can call me out.

Original article: The two-boyfriend problem

Suck it up, sweetheart

Life for you doesn't really sound all that bad. Yes, breaking up sucks, for sure. The guy left you and/but you're still somewhat in love with your ex. You aren't taking your ex's calls or advances but in time, you'll get the itch to hook up with him.

A word of advice: don't date the ex for AT LEAST six months, maybe more (Dr. Joy Browne has a twelve-month rule, but I wonder if anyone can handle that). What I mean here is don't fuck him, blow him, have sex with him, don't answer his booty calls in the future. Purely platonic, casual relationship, is what you need, but be perfectly honest with him. Tell him you're worth waiting for.

You need time for yourself to sort it out. You'll get through it and it will be good experience. There are MUCH worse things that can happen to you and you certainly will learn this. But, you got to suck it up and be disciplined with your heart and head.

I favor

The government getting out of marriage, period, and staying out of civil unions. No marriage, no civil unions. The government has no business recognizing whom you fuck.

Benefits should be conferred because you are a resident alien or a citizen, not because you decided to fuck someone and then get married and get on his health insurance. This society is totally fucked up this way. The entire structure of family law needs to be overthrown.

This Criminal

Never gave a damn about anything save his rich friends and buddies. To hell with the people, the law, foreigners. He did as he damn well pleased and I hope the motherfucker is prosecuted. The Heavenly Father might just damn him to Hell to fry forever for his sins.

LaBarbera needs to get laid

Anyone who worries about what goes on behind closed doors just needs to get fucked more. It might do him a world of good (with a man or woman, I don't care). These people are pathetic and most likely are extremely disturbed individuals.
