And the voters deserve what they get
[Read the article: Obama basically concedes two upcoming primaries]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I have a feeling that these white hicks in WV and Kentucky who would "never vote for a black man" (never mind that he's really "biracial" but these labels are ludicrous) are not the core voters that Hillary thinks they are. She's run a right-wing death machine during her campaign, trying to scare everyone away from Obama. Let them vote Republican in the general election, McCain can have them. Why would anyone want the "racist" vote?
These dumb hicks that she's courting wouldn't vote for a progressive white candidate. Screw 'em (although they did a very good job of screwing themselves, by voting against their interests).

Joan, you need to see a proctologist right away
[Read the article: Can Democrats learn to talk about race?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Whew! You've got your head somewhere it doesn't belong.
Seriously, the problem is not that Hillary is racist (I don't think she is at all) but that she's implying that white, working-class voters (under-educated) ARE. And, touting her perceived ability to attract these voters, shouts "VOTE FOR ME! I'M YOUR WHITE HONEY!"
I mean, really, this is not a gaffe, an unintentional mistake, a clumsy remark, one said without thinking. This is a serious character flaw that should disqualify her royal highness from any public office. Hillary is pandering to the most base instincts, the worst aspects of prejudice. I vote to boot her out of the party. I mean, Lord, Joan, you don't get how disgustingly offensive, sleazy, and utterly gutter-trash Hillary has become?

What Hillary should do, but won't
[Read the article: What should Hillary Clinton do now?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Joan,
Yes, you are right. Hillary should focus on her strengths and not tear down her opponent. But she won't. Oh, yes, she says a few snippets here and there about supporting "the nominee" and "fighting for the party" because we need a "Democrat in the White House" but I'm afraid she's too far gone. She needs a twelve step program for those addicted to power. She's like a dog on a bone who won't give up.
Joan, how else can anyone possibly explain her behavior? She will campaign, go into debt, lose the delegate totals, but still insist on seating MI and FL HER WAY, fight the rules committee and may even possibly go to court. I cannot believe what she says at this point, not from a woman who claims that "every vote counts" when clearly her own campaign operatives and documents state that she thought she would have the nomination wrapped up by Feb. 5, a woman who also stated that "pledged delegates can vote their conscience", in clear contradiction of her "every vote counts" mantra.
Logically, she reminds me of Houdini, all twisted up and contorted, but she can't manage to untie herself. She's so far gone, so clearly drunk with her own righteousness that nothing but a shock, a huge jolt of reality, can snap her out of it, like an alcoholic who drinks until all is gone: job, family, friends, health, money. She'll hit bottom for sure, with a huge thud.
Part of me really feels sorry for her, because she truly has assets and could have done a much better job for the party in terms of building a coalition. I don't have much faith that she'll change her behavior. For the sake of the party, I hope I'm wrong about that.

Hillary's policies are not superior to Obama's
[Read the article: What should Hillary Clinton do now?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Her health care plan is arguably better than this, depending on whom you believe. However, whatever Hillary's superior plans for the economy, she clearly has an enormous, stinking albatross around her neck that negates any positives: her Iraq War vote.
This war will cost trillions. Trillions over decades. This vote for the war sinks and outweighs any good that she could do as president.
Obama is right about one thing: Clinton is part of the stinking cesspool in Washington. A hack, a corporate whore (pharmaceutical money!). Her record clearly shows it.

I don't understand these arguments
[Read the article: What should Hillary Clinton do now?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]About Hillary needing to allow all the upcoming primary voters to have their say, and to seat FL and MI delegates.
Hillary's campaign documents as well as her past statements and actions undermine what she is saying now. Her arguments of being concerned about the voters don't stand up to scrutiny in light of earlier statements prior to Jan. 2008.
So, why should I believe her now?
If she would do the following, I would support her staying on in the campaign:
1. Apologize for her Iraq War vote. This was a colossal error of judgment. She needs to say "Hey, I fucked up."
2. Stop insisting that she won FL and MI and trying to seat those delegates on HER terms. She clearly did not win those contests because they weren't contests. Even third graders understand this. Changing the rules after things didn't go your way is a kid's tactic, not an adult's. Accept responsibility and deal with life on life's terms. Yes, sometimes, most times, in fact, we don't get what we want in life. Welcome to the real world, Hillary.
3. Stop dividng the Democratic Party with stupid comments in a Rovian divide-and-conquer-scorched-earth policy.
In other words, use her tenacity and fighting spirit to target McCanine in the general.

It's one of two ads that I would have chosen
[Read the article: MoveOn picks winner of Obama ad contest]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The fifteen or so ads on MoveOn.org that were posted for viewer ratings were largely so over-the-top with sugary-feel good imagery and music that I felt they were NOT effective. The panelists did a good job of choosing an ad that actually targeted a specific group.
Some of the other ads were really ridiculous. The one with little jingle bells about HOPE and the other one with people forming a human OBAMA in, of all places, NYC, was laughable, only because if MoveOn had aired it, the whole thing would have been viewed as precisely some far out, feel-good, post-hippie, ad that would have been lost on most Americans. They could have as well aired an ad with Wiccans beating drums in the forest under a full moon, worshiping a tree goddess. Not that I don't love Wiccans, but really, some liberals in big cities have no idea what it's like in the hinterlands in the interior.
