He's running!
[Read the article: Make no mistake: He's running]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I love all the talk about "experience" (or lack thereof) from the skeptics. Does that really matter when voters go to the polls? What experience did the current idiot in the White House have in 1999? Being Governor of Texas is more of a ceremonial position; although he had 6 years under his belt before moving to Pennsylvania Avenue we see that it's intellect that counts, not experience.

Hillary Can Win
[Read the article: When Rudy met Hillary]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The conventional wisdom is that Hillary cannot possibly win the general presidential election because she is too unpopular or even "hated" by 40% of the electorate. I must point out that by 2004 Bush's unfavorable ratings were higher, but he still inched by Kerry. Certainly Bush in 2004 was more hated than Hillary is now in 2007. What matters is energizing your base to vote and catching part of the 45-50% the population who don't bother to vote.

Re: Target is Upscale Shopping?
[Read the article: Barack Obama's nouvelle vague]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]FinFangFoom-
Go back and read what Shapiro wrote. You obviously didn't get his comment-that a town of 7500 doesn't have anything BUT Target, which is NOT upscale shopping, so how could they get Obama's reference that a privileged person with a Harvard Law degree would shop at Target? Shapiro's comment is on the mark: that people from this town wouldn't have any other choices with which to compare.

Living in Ohio
[Read the article: How to solve America's water problems]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I love cold weather: snow skiing, ice skating, etc. It's invigorating, wonderful to be out in the cold. Anything above 78 F is too hot for me. I hate hot weather! The one thing I'm really bummed about is the lack of snowfall the last 15 years.
No, we won't have our wonderful Great Lakes drained for whiny southerners. Never. And besides, yes, as one poster noted, Canada won't go for that.

MLK vs. LBJ
[Read the article: The Clinton-Obama contest gets rougher]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Anyone who thinks that the Civil Rights Act could have been signed without MLK's work beforedhand is simply a complete moron (Hillary included). First comes organizing, marching, agitating, and campaigning, then, comes legislation. Gay rights, women's rights, integration all started with THE PEOPLE, not some glorious president who believes his noblesse oblige accomplished it with a stroke of a pen.

Thanks Tim!
[Read the article: "It almost seems like everything sort of leads back to Iran"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]More mindless drivel from the mainstream press. You and Glenn are the best for highlighting these hacks called journalists.
I'm beginning to think that intelligent journalists who ask probing questions are an endangered species.

Not a Hillary Fan
[Read the article: Did Obama win the Nevada delegate count?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]For various reasons - I think she's too centrist, mainly. I will vote for her if she wins the nomination (the Republican candidates are scary). However, I don't think she can win a national election, regardless who would run against her. I hope I'm wrong, I really do. I think Obama is much more qualified to beat the Republican nationally.

Delegate Count
[Read the article: Did Obama win the Nevada delegate count?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think it is significant that Obama supporters are pointing out how the delegates are counted in Nevada. If Obama did win the rural counties then I think it's logical to say that Obama would be a better candidate nationally, because we have the undemocratic Electoral College. The issue is not whether the weighting factor is fair in Nevada (in my opinion it is not), the issue is the correlation of Nevadans' vote to the Electoral College.
We have to live with the Electoral College in 2008!

Hillary's delegate count
[Read the article: Did Obama win the Nevada delegate count?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]-eeave
I read that too, that HRC has many delegates coming out of the gate before any voting. But then I read that these superdelegates can change their votes. Does she really have that many already committed?

Dems' vote total
[Read the article: Did Obama win the Nevada delegate count?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Lloyd-
I wouldn't put too much stock in the vote totals as an indicator of anything. I don't think it translates into any discernible trend in November.

Thanks posters
[Read the article: Did Obama win the Nevada delegate count?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thanks for all of you referencing Obama's comment about Reagan and the Republicans.
I actually looked up what he said. Uggh. I used to be an Obama fan, but not now. That's a pretty hard comment for me to get over.

[Read the article: Did Obama win the Nevada delegate count?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yeah, I did read the whole thing. No, I didn't make a decision just based on an AP "few lines" or sound bites. I understood what Obama was saying.
Saying ANYTHING positive about Reagan, whether he was an agent of change or whether he had an admirable method, etc., is disgusting to me. I lived through the Reagan era, it was pretty awful. My next door neighbor's dad was an air traffic controller. At age 13, I got Reagan right away.
No comment about whether I am/was much of an Obama supporter. Doesn't matter now.

Me too
[Read the article: My big, fat, unpaid credit card bill]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I would try Debtors Anonymous. I have about 3.5 times your debt, and I've finally got it under control. The thing about DA is that it forces you to get to the underlying issues, just like with any other addiction. Yes, you have a payment plan, a "diet" but what about sustaining it? Many people just go back into debt, just like many people gain the weight back. But hey, good luck! I know how damn hard it is to be paying credit card debt.

If Clinton Wins the Nomination
[Read the article: Exits: Latinos, Catholics for Clinton, youth for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]There is no way in hell she would win against McCain. Obama is the only one could beat him. Hold on, folks, we're in for 8 more years of Republicanism.

[Read the article: Exits: Latinos, Catholics for Clinton, youth for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's not that I think Clinton isn't intelligent (she is). Clinton does not inspire, she is too centrist, she couldn't see through Bush's manipulation and lies when millions of us did (and I didn't have the benefit of looking at classified material), and she too often appears to be "tough" as though she can be Commander-in-Chief. It's phoney-and all of this will come back to haunt her in the general election. I believe she will win the nomination, but lose against McCain, because she has these vulnerabilities to exploit. I will vote for her (McCain is disgusting, and my nominee dropped out) but I'm resigned to a re-run of 2004.
I do hope I'm wrong (sigh).

Name recognition
[Read the article: Making sense of Super Tuesday]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Clinton's been around for quite a while. With Latino and Asian voters in CA, I think Obama didn't do so well because of the name recognition.
