These right-wingers get elected

Why? Because their constituencies are ignorant, and they obviously play to them.

How does Fox News have the market share it does? Their viewers are ignorant and they obviously play to them.

Why are Americans so vastly more ignorant than Swedes?

WE DON'T EDUCATE OUR PEOPLE!!!

The great Ronald Reagan sabotaged our public schools and public funding for higher education. No president or congress since has been able to reverse the catastrophic destruction which continues unabated to this day.

More and more ignorant people are joining the ranks of voters and overwhelming the steadily shrinking educated population of the US.

The absolutely terrifying thing, however, is that this is self-compounding, as ignorant constituencies beget more ignorant, misguided, self-destructive policies.

As a society, we have not even begun to address this issue meaningfully. And as the problem compounds, our ability to address it may already be lost.

When will the US be over the right?

God, I hope they are dying for real.

Among all of the egregious policies Reagan instituted, killing public services, specifically public education has to be on top of the pile.

If Reagan hadn't made America so stupid, a George W. Bush may never have been "elected" as president.

Vilifying and stigmatizing socialism is something that may take well over a century to overcome. This country may not survive long enough to come through the other side.

General Electric are war contractors

NBC is owned by GE.

If you start with a conflict of interest that big, how is NBC supposed to care about one more little General and HIS little conflict?

Keep fighting. Thank you!!!

Priorities in the media

Ha ha! I know of lots of people who have set up "homes" in parking garages. Some of them with much more intriguing back-stories. For example war veterans with PTSD, the destitute and impoverished, folks with shattered lives who got treated unfairly by an uncaring and unjust society, etc.

They've also gotten evicted, often.

Oh, but they didn't have a loft up the street to retire to when things got a little "dusty."

Thank you for bringing this very important story to light.

Original article: Breaking the Iraq stalemate

To begin remaking

1. Impeach

2. Send Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Gonzalez to the Hague to be tried for war crimes.

These are only a start, but they are two necessary steps to begin to show the world that we still believe in justice, that we understand that what "we" did was wrong, and we have remorse.

Then, maybe, maybe, we can plead to the international community for mercy, forgiveness, and aid in repairing Iraq.
