Original article: The artist as mad scientist

environmentalist?

You allowed someone to call herself an environmentalist, and in the same breath tell you that she commutes once a week from New York to San Diego.

Does she (do you) think that jet fuel grows on organic farms? And is she so irreplacable in that second job that she feels justified in burning thousands of gallons of the stuff?

Original article: Bikers, they ain't no good

Less obesity vs. more serious accidents

I am a nurse in an emergency room, and I bike to work every day.

However much obesity I am avoiding (and saving health care dollars), it will only take one serious accident to put me into the top percentile of health care spenders.

Bicycle accidents are 1) frequent 2)devastating and 3)very, very expensive.

Original article: Too much Gore

The worst review ever.

Ok, Salon, I'm paying you $35 a year, the least you could do is edit this stuff every once in a while. Who let this review through?

Bitter, nasty, and totally unjustified.

Vidal has filled a bookshelf with some of the best novels written in America in the 20th century, and you get your sportswriter to ramble on about Myra Breckinridge?

This was a spectacular memoir. Bittersweet, funny, it stayed with me for weeks.

thank you Garrison

Everyone I've read this line to...

Like everyone else, we have a bad case of Bush fatigue. The very sound of the name, that little puff of breath and the shush, is an irritant.

...has burst out laughing. Thanks for squeezing another laugh out of our national tradgedy. I wonder how many laughs we have left.

Original article: Oprah's ugly secret

Oprah has a responsibility...

The turning point with Oprah and myself came during her "women of the world" series a few years ago. She had a woman from Kuwait on, obviously upper class, and asked her about her makeup routine. Do I need to go on?

Oprah talks to millions of people every day, and she has a responsibility to them.

Original article: Bored? Lonely? Take a walk

Thank you Garrison

I have a feeling you always read the comments to your pieces, so I want to say thank you. You make me feel thankful, that I can take a walk, that I can take a deep breath of spring, that I don't have to be wrapped in two tons of steel.

Please don't pay too much attention to the negative comments. You are loved.

millenniums??

Did you really write millenniums and not millennia? I hate to be an asshole, but we just crossed into a new one of these a few years ago, and I thought everyone learned how to spell it.

Sipping on my Coke Zero? How much did you get for that shameless product placement?

Was is really necessary to name the brand of soda you were sipping?

Don't you think our world is saturated enough with advertising? Why are you ruining your column with this?
