"If you want conservatives to get some respect then they need to act civilized, show some respect for their leaders, and participate in a discussion, not try to disrupt it."
As opposed to some representatives either leaving the country on fact finding missions? Or their representatives answering legitimate questions with sales pitches only? Or their representatives asking SEIU members to fill the seats early so as to make sure a friendly audience is there instead of their constituents? Or ignoring the constituent who asked a question to answer a cell phone call?
Need I go on? The demonstration of a lack of respect for their own constituents is what has brought this firestorm down on the heads of Congress. This is a backlash for the arrogance Congress has shown the US.
BTW, calling all of them unamerican, and brown shirts, and nazis only makes the situation much, MUCH worse.
"I've viewed video taken from outside these events that is readily available on many sites. My favorite is gawker, btw. Plenty of inflamatory imagery. If you've not seen it, you've not looked. Or not wanted to see."
Hey, can you give me the gawker URL?
"Those dismayed by all of the promises he broke probably don't care about that much."
But SURELY you expected the race card to be pulled, once you started to complain about any actions the President would take. I know I did. Doesn't really matter to me because I continue to complain about broken promises...regardless of what others say about me. I know who and what I am, so what others say about me doesn't matter to me.
What matters is holding the man who holds the highest office in the land accountable for his actions...or inactions!
"Of course, they're not right-leaning, so I'm sure you'll find some reason to discount their content. But please, whatever."
What I am looking for is the rough stuff that has been stated was committed by the RW. I haven't seen it and so am looking to see if it's true or not.
"Never, ever underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups! Don't need to hear more than a couple of these rednecks scream some dribble about 'You and the rest of your cronies, Mr. Specter' to get the picture that these are indeed stupid people in large groups."
Ironic that. I believe that is what General Cornwallis thought of the militia during the Revolutionary war...how was it put in that movie? "Their just a bunch of farmers with pitchforks".
I've also seen other protestors screaming as well...something to do with a war in the middle east or something???
Because while you've seen the conservatives get rowdy and yell a lot and even pound on the door to get in (when they were locked out), you didn't see them get violent --- even when you saw a LOT of them.
Matter of fact the ONLY violence you've seen is where the union members beat a conservative black man...not a good thing to be caught on video.
At any rate, the Dems are now trying to pull off a closed door town hall meeting...closed to the press and any dissenting voice.
"From what I've seen, none of the congressmen or other politicians who are taking questions at the town halls have been in any way insulting or condescending to the people there (if they have, I haven't seen it, and it's probably the exception not the rule). There's much more coverage of angry people chanting than there is of people asking questions and then getting full responses."
Not insulting or condescending?
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee talks on the phone as a woman asks a question at a town hall event

Here's one example for you for being insulting!
"Sorry about that Chiefpayne, but this has got to be one of the lamest examples you could have possibly provided."
Actually it's not...doesn't matter if it's out of context or not. Look, when you are talking to someone you want them to pay attention to you and to make sure you know they are paying attention to you. To take a phone call in the middle of a conversation is RUDE, no matter HOW you slice it.
She could have said she needed to take this call because it was important and to have the questioner hold her question until the call was done. Instead, she basically ignored her constiutent, giving the impression, per her body language, that the constiutent's question didn't matter.
Look, regardless of whether that was what she was doing or not, it was a bad move.
Worse, she tried to say the video was doctored on an interview with CNN! She even took an aggressive stance with the CNN reporter trying to ask her why she did it.

"Who demonized the protesters, specifically? What did that person actually say? Do tell... Because you're full of it."
Calling them a mob or teabaggers ISN'T demonizing them?
"Again, you're full of it here. What did Obama say that was worse than what Bush said? Specifically? You can't answer, because Obama didn't say anything at all. You're just lying."
Well we know for sure he said "I won."
"Who said what, exactly? I think somebody (Pelosi?) might have said a lack of civility was un-American. They didn't say the protesters were un-American. Talk about taking words out of context."
Here's the Pelosi quote.
"These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American."
Harry Reid said "people who are disrupting town halls with "lies, innuendo and rumor," and not letting others speak are "evil-mongers."
Pelosi:
"They are carrying Swastikas and symbols like that to a Town meeting on Health care"
