Original article: We are all appeasers now

Simple Answer

Knkosi1,

"What actual and verifiable successes can those who champion Bush’s foreign policy point to?"

1. Well, there have been no further terrorist attacks on American soil since 9/11.

2. U.S. Reports Gains Against Taliban Fighters - New York Times

3. U.S. Deaths in Iraq Fell Sharply in May - New York Times

I am not saying these are ALL that happened due to his foreign policy...but you DID say you wanted specific examples of success.

Depends...

on what the definition of "denial" is...doesn't it???

Where there's smoke, there's mirrors - and sometimes fire too

Renegade Iconoclast,

"Why am I not surprised that KateTex the racist hater believes Michelle Obama sat on a panel with Farrakhan? Because Larry Frakking Johnson says he knows 5 people who know 5 people who've seen the tape?"

Renegade, while I do not know if there is a tape or not, doesn't it bother you that the possibility exists because of Mr. Obama's relationship with Farrakhan, and because of all the other things which have been in the news?

You really are known by the company you keep. So, even if said tape does not exist, it is worrisome that people could believe such from Mrs. Obama because of previous press issues.

@ logicalresponse

"Would you like her to take her 17 odd million votes with her? If so, keep it up!"

Given what I have seen and heard, it is logical to assume many (not ALL mind you but many) WILL either not vote or will vote for McCain.

Not a good thing for Mr. Obama.

I recommend

waiting to celebrate until the nomination is official. Politics have a way of turning on even the most promising candidate.

As for Obama picking Hillary as his VP...I seriously doubt it. Two type A personalities like that? Difficult to imagine.

Think Renegade

"No, not really. First of all I don't get concerned about lies. Secondly, you just made up Obama's, "relationship," with Farrakhan. I'm not sure they've even been in the same room. If they have, it hasn't been reported by any reputable source."

Mr. Obama's spiritual advisor Rev. Wright said Louis Farrakhan "truly epitomized greatness." Now, do you think he could have said that and Mr. Obama didn't know? Now does he PERSONALLY know Mr. Farrakhan? I haven't seen anything on that either.

Lies are one thing...but statements without verification are another matter. You see, the problem is we DON'T KNOW if it's a lie or not. Now if Ms. Obama came out and SAID it was a lie...but so far I haven't heard her say it is yet...have you?

"I know 5 people, who each know 5 other people, who have seen a tape of McCain doing scatological porn. Doesn't that concern you?"

Nope for a couple of reasons. First, I could care LESS about McCain. Second, he has no previous history of such...so there is no pattern from which to draw this conclusion. Finally, no allegation has been brought up to him for him to answer whether it is true or not.

I am NOT trying to say this is true or not...but I would feel better if Ms. Obmama came out and SAID it was a lie.

Tuesday, June 3, 2008 11:32 AM

Ok then Renegae,

"I guess you're right. Statements without verification aren't lies. They're known as "smears.""

Ok...then if this is a smear, why doesn't she, or Obama for that matter, stand up and says it's a smear and untrue? To keep it out of the media??

Seems to me it's all over the blog as well as on Fox News: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2ToQ9SWTkY&NR=1

And it will most likely get worse before it gets better. So the question becomes, wouldn't it be easier to just say it's not true and go on about your way???

After all, logically if there is NO WAY it could be true, you should be able to deny it outright, correct?

Tuesday, June 3, 2008 11:48 AM

To be honest

I would not be surprised, if Hillary DOES lose the nomination, she endorses McCain. She seems to be a sore loser to me...of course I could be mistaken.

Tuesday, June 3, 2008 12:04 PM

@ jebldmm

"Clinton has repeatedly stated that she will support Obama if he is the nominee. I really don't know what more she could do to convince people that she isn't going to endorse McCain. Perhaps ritual suicide?"

I will wait to see what she will do, if she does in fact lose the nomination.

Politicians many times say they will do one thing and then do another.

Tuesday, June 3, 2008 12:07 PM

@ Quiet Type

"She already endorsed McCain months ago when she declared that she and he were Commander-in-Chief material. If she winds up saying anything supportive of Obama now, she's going to look lying/insincere/pathetic. (Nothing new about that, of course.)"

Quite true...further, she seems to have had a working relationship with Senator McCain before (I infer that from their mutual public admiration of each other).

As such, I do not expect Senator Obama to offer her the VP nor do I expect her to take it.

But...will she endores McCain after the nomination is over? That is something we will have to wait and see...after all, as I said before, politicians many times say one thing and do another.

@ metropolitannyc

"i can't believe you're suckering people here, lol

what a surprise, i have to assume you are the same chiefpayne that used to post pro-republican comments in wonkette. and now you're here posing as a democratic party clinton supporter?"

HUH? Not sure what you're talking about. Haven't been to wonkette.

Anyway, I don't go for either party really...and I really don't like any of the candidates. I am just looking at how things are actually shaping up and commenting on them.

To be honest, I'm not sure I can pull the lever for any of the candidates this year.
