Go Glenn! Go!

Klein's behavior is both evidence and crime. Evidence of the mental slackness that has pervaded the group the founders enshrined in Amendment I and crime by being another breach of the sacred trust to find the truth, know the truth and tell the truth. If the legislation was too tough for Klein to understand then he should have put his pen down. Glenn's CSI approach is magnificent.

Time, out of time

it has been a couple of decades since I read "Time". I quit reading it when it was clear it was simple cheerleading for the empire. Nice to see Glenn nail the truth and confirm that my money was better spent elsewhere. Newsweek is/was no better though.

Pretty boy mask hides ugly face

John King tears his pretty boy mask off and shows us his true, ugly, personality. There's no reason to watch him now, again, ever.

Peter Principle in Play

Anyone else see the Peter Principle in play here with Mr. Clinton? Just one promotion too many to spouse of candidate for president.

"W" stands for Worst

The Carpenter and the Walrus promenade of the Senate in chatting with [interrogating is something only the minions of the Dark Torture Lords can do] the sadist enabler Munkasy GG describes reminded me of Graves's "I Claudius" and his description of the limp Roman Senate which triggered the thought that though Rove/Cheney may be a Livia, "W" is no Augustus, so hope of preserving the Republic remains.

Sadly the Republicans are not Republicans.

It's no country for old Men

McCain is simply too old. And now he's showing signs of it.

Lobbying is not a victimless crime.

They are not "lobbyists" they are "bribists". And lobbying is not a victimless crime.

TSA

Surely no one can object to a job that provides rewarding and meaningful employment for our lesser skilled fellow Americans. If these people weren't providing what is called security for airplanes they'd be left carrying guns and walking around malls. Most assuredly we are safer with them at the airports. I look forward to interacting with these literal minded individuals with low aptitudes because everytime I hear one of them interact I have a there but for the grace of god moment.

Tom and Hans

Watch his body language at the beginning. He positively "rubs his hands" at the prospect of giving an answer to the question "Was it worth it?" Then he does the smarmy closed handed moustache wipe. Almost Snidely Whiplash. His pompous, gasbaggery is matched only by a stellar ignorance. As a cheerleader for a war of aggression surely he has earned his place in the dock next to Hans Fritsche.

ā€œFritzsche was not the type of conspirator who signed decrees, or who sat in the inner councils planning the overall grand strategy. The function of propaganda is, for the most part, apart from the field of such planning. The function of a propaganda agency is somewhat more analogous to an advertising agency or public relations department, the job of which is to sell the product and to win the market for the enterprise in question. Here the enterprise was the Nazi conspiracy."

For Tom it was the Bush conspiracy to "change" the Arab world.

He may not have worked for [employed by] the government. But he certainly worked "for" the government.

Pardons galore

W's legacy has been one of organized crime so far. one of his first acts was to allow government contracting with convicts. His final bookend act will be pardons.

"wartime" President = fuhrerprincip

"One last point: there is much consternation over Dick Cheney's "Nixon/Frost moment" yesterday, where he expressly endorsed the idea that, as a "general proposition," a "wartime" President can do anything he wants -- even if it violates duly enacted statutes -- as long as it's justified in the name of national security."

Read Jackson's opening statement.

Yes I suppose we are in a "wartime" moment. But it is a Nuremburg moment.

This Bush-Cheny Gang is responsible for more deaths than the Taylors of the World which is who they should be compared to.

D v. R; Fan club versus political party

Might I suggest the following partial, rough draft, reason for there being more Democratic Dynasties than Republican. The Democratic "Party" isn't one but rather is a hybrid political party and free floating fan club that is more accepting of policy differences and still be a "fan" of the person while the Republicans screen more for policy differences thus cutting out non-compliant would-be dynasts. It would be interesting to see if there were about the same number of attempted dyasts [i.e. about the same number were candidates for creating a dynasty but more Rs failed]

Fritzsche was a credulous propagandist

http://www.nizkor.org/hweb/imt/tgmwc/tgmwc-05/tgmwc-05-41-02.shtml

Fritzsche was a credulous propagandist indeed if he gloriously praised the exploitation policy of the German Reich, chiefly or especially because the competent authorities gave him a sales talk on the voluntary placement of manpower.

Fritzsche is not being presented by the prosecution as the type of conspirator

[Page 91]

who signed decrees, or as the type of conspirator who sat in the inner councils planning all of the overall grand strategy of these conspirators. The function of propaganda is, for the most part, distinct from the field of such planning. The function of a propaganda agency is somewhat more analogous to an advertising agency or public relations department, the job of which is to sell the product and to win the market for the enterprise in question. Here the enterprise, we submit, was the Nazi conspiracy. In a conspiracy to commit fraud, the gifted salesman of the conspiratorial group is quite as essential and quite as culpable as the master planners, even though he may not have contributed substantially to the formulation of all the basic strategy, but rather contributed to its artful execution.

[but this is enough, Fritsche was not convicted]
