Great article Gary! Keep those synapses firing on all engines, and pay no attention to those who would actually take the time to post a comment complaining about your use of the royal "we." (I think it's like a rhetorical device or something, guys, chill out). Although I have to agree with the guy who says Tony wouldn't have invaded Iraq. No way. He'd have been more prudent.
Surely you can do better than this??!! While I'm certainly not going to threaten you with the withdrawal of my measley $17+ subscription money -- a bad day of Salon is usually better than a good day of almost any other magazine -- I will say that the bad days, or at least the bad articles, are occuring with greater frequency. I mean, I know weekends are your down-time, but I'd rather read nothing than this incredibly boring drivel. I hope you didn't actually pay this guy money for such garbage. Bad enough you let him up on stage . . . .
Right on, Rebecca! Personally, I hope Biden rips her freaking heart out Thursday night. For all her hubris, this pitbull in lipstick (yeah, sure) deserves total annihalation (in a manner, of course, that does not offend or alienate a single undecided voter!) Like you, I am sick of the patronizing pity party that is enveloping this dangerous and disgraceful excuse for a candidate and representative of our sex. My favorite political sign of late: "Hey Sarah, I can see the end of your political career from my front porch."
Do I sound bitter?
:-)
"Should places like Colorado, and Ohio, and North Carolina and Virginia -- all states with more than their fair share of evangelical Christian conservatives -- go blue on Tuesday, it will be a clear sign that the sun may be setting on the political influence of fundamentalist churches like New Life."
We can only pray.
Camille Paglia has devolved into total creepiness.
We barely could sit through it to the end. Indeed, I closed my eyes for the last 20 minutes, as I truly could care less what the revelation was if ever it came. I was so disappointed, as recommendations like this one had given me such high hopes.
For once I agree with Joan. Sometimes it's fine to be on the wrong side of the law in order to be on the side of what's right. The democrats need to show some moral spine (for once) and refuse to seat anyone appointed by the disgraced and disgraceful governor of Illinois. Nobody with a toehold in the reality based community sees this as a race issue. Please! Burris is a buffoon. Blagojevich is an ass*hule. The dems should let the courts force them to seat this dolt, not do it
willingly. Pathetic, really. Suddenly Feinstein's all about the rule of law? Where was she the last eight years?
<<But in doing this you fall into the "Bush-is-an-idiot" bag of liberal miasmas>>
But Bush WAS an idiot.
Indeed, as it turns out, he was just about everything we liberals said he was. But I don't recall a single one of us weeping into the cameras a la Glenn Beck and threatening armed insurrection. And Bush suspended habeas corpus, tapped our phones, started wars that killed hundreds of thousands of people, tortured and left the country broke and in pieces! Obama just wants to give you health insurance, with dental, and save your jobs, and you are reaching for your guns, completely hysterical. What a bunch of babies.
Paglia is certifiably insane. Each column more disturbing than the last, although I didn't click through to the second page for the full flavor.
Walsh's total disregard for her subscribers' pleas not to give this crackpot a forumn is confusing at this point. Why not give Glenn Beck a monthly column?
Oh my God, I forgot Sonny Bono was such a HORRIBLE singer. ouch.
Dude, I think you should write this column! ;-)
