Terry Gross had a delightful interview with Nellie McKay awhile back. It's possibly one of my most favorite Fresh Air interviews ever. She's incredibly lighthearted, funny and humble.

I'm moving from California to Texas. IE, from one state that would want a public option, to a state that would not. Fantastic.
The thing is, I get their point: If Texans are too stupid to ask for government-run insurance, who are we to stop them from their fool ideas? I get that.
But I've been living in California for the last four years, and I'm going to shoot myself if I have to remain in this phoney baloney place another 6 months. So does this mean I get to choose between living in a place that I love, and medical security? That's just not right.
Well, yes. How else are we suppose to know that we're important?
Because, as I'm sure Roman Polanski can tell you, you only matter if you've been to Hollywood. If you've been to Hollywood then issues such as child rape are a mere inconvenience.
I suspect that Edwards knew that his scandal was in the process of unraveling even as he was campaigning for the ticket. If this is true, that means that he was willing to put the Democratic ticket in danger, despite a growing scandal.
Americans may have short memories, but Democrats, even ersatz pinko commie ones such as myself, will not easily forget the danger that Edwards put us in. That's just blind narcissism what he did. He knew how important this campaign was to us, and he stayed in the race probably knowing that this scandal was in danger of blowing up. If McCain had won because of Edward's foolishness, there would have been a committee a mile long waiting to kick that man in the head.
