Rove's phone call
[Read the article: Sore losers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]While reading this article and seeing Rove mentioned again, it dawned on me that maybe Rove called offering Joe Lieberman the Republican nod for CT. If that were so, I'm surprised that JL didn't take the bait.
Hopefully Americans won't buy into false alerts, should they be that or the fear that the GOP uses to bend our "hearts and minds". It doesn't take much of an imagination to connect the dots that our Iraq policy, our policy with Israel, and our lack of diplomacy in the Middle East in general hasn't brought us security or sleep filled nights.
I don't support putting our heads in the sand regarding Islamic terrorism or fanaticism of any stripe. We should have finished the war in Iraq when poppa fought Hussein in Kuwait. But Bush and Co have failed and continue to do so at every turn.

weapon
[Read the article: Dishonesty by the right on terrorists and eavesdropping]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]the only effective weapon the Republicans seem to have is that of propaganda and it works not on our "enemies" but upon our own people.

continued ironies

republic
n 1: a political system in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who can elect people to represent them [syn: democracy, commonwealth] [ant: autocracy] 2: a form of government whose head of state is not a monarch; "the head of state in a republic is usually a president"
Ironic that the Republicans are anything but, in fact their continued tactics and language are an abuse of the definitions of Republican.
Further, Joe Lieberman showed his true Republican in Democrats clothing by claiming in a NYTimes article "Lieberman, on the Offensive, Links Terror Threat and Iraq" that “If we just pick up like Ned Lamont wants us to do, get out by a date certain, it will be taken as a tremendous victory by the same people who wanted to blow up these planes in this plot hatched in England,” “It will strengthen them, and they will strike again.”
Using Rove's playbook Joe?

forest gump
[Read the article: And Sambo's was just a good place for pancakes]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]racist is as racist does

horses in Roman Senate?
[Read the article: Cheney: Lieberman good, democracy bad]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yes I know the history and one thing is for certain is that we have a lot of jackasses in the Senate, House, Judiciary and Oval Office. Oh and I'm not talking Democrats here, although they too can and some are Jackasses, Lieberman comes to mind.

needing to be liked
[Read the article: Clinton: Lieberman isn't like the rest of us]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Bill Clinton, unfortunately has a need to be liked and with Lamont's win is trying to backtrack and cover his sorry ass. I didn't like him as a President, I thought his part or non-part in the Waco fiasco along with NAFTA was B.S. and his wife, my sad to say carpet bagger Senator should be sent back to Illinois.
Lieberman isn't like the rest of us and that is why he got voted out of the Democrat Primary for Senator. Clinton and wife are symptomatic of what troubles, hurts and disgraces the Democratic Party. I would be happy to be permanently rid of both of them.

Public Lynching
[Read the article: Allen apologizes, but for what?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I can only hope that Allen's racism leads him to be lynched, lynched in the polls that is.
-
"closet racist"
[Read the article: Stepping in "macaca"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I would have to say that the hood has come off now, no more in the closet for Allen or should I say faux imperial wizard.

Perino's comments
[Read the article: Campaign manager: The press put words in Allen's mouth]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"And I think it's in everyone's best interest, in this day and age of politics when everyone is trying to improve the tone and discourse, to accept apologies when they're offered."
What planet does she live on? Her cohorts in the White House and in the Republican party overall have done absolutely nothing to improve the tone and discourse. The world has gone topsy turvy- Iraq is going splendidly, black is white, up is down, etc, etc.

Southern Politics
[Read the article: George Allen raises money for Jim Webb]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It is pleasant to see that Virginian's even in the more conservative areas are reacting against Allen. The myth of the old south was that it was a gentlemen’s culture and Allen, for all of his swagger, machismo and racism is neither a Virginian, a southerner nor a gentleman. But sadly I'm willing to bet his sinking in the polls has more to do with his not being a true dyed in the blue (or red in this case) Virginian and not his racist bullying bravado.
Further Minot's comment on the DSCC are spot on.

happy
[Read the article: Unhappily ever after]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm happy that they published the article but not because I believe it. The danger of being or forcing P.C. behavior is that it hides people whose views need to be addressed and taken on. I prefer to know where the people are whose opinions are dangerous rather than have them hidden behind a veil of civility, then at least something can be done about it.
In this case it illustrates that there are many men who still are caught in a time warp of societal expectations, like the publishers and editors of Forbes magazine.
"You've come a long way baby." NOT!

constitution and law
[Read the article: Another end run on Bolton?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Bush and Co. haven't shown any respect, let alone understanding of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, etc so why should that stop them from endgaming again for Bolton.
The only thing they will understand is being drummed out of office, preferably into an international court in the Hague on war crimes.

too late
[Read the article: Kerry to Swift Boaters: Bring it on, again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Nixon ran against Kennedy and lost but came back, but this was long before the massive jugernaut of what passes for news today or even thinking for that matter now that we live in a complete soundbite world.
I doubt that a loser of one election could win 4 years later in our world today, Gore might have had a chance because of the b.s. in 2000 but Kerry now?
Yeah right, not only is it too late but if he didn't have the cajones to deal with their lies then, what make him think that we, the voting public have any faith with his dealing with legitmate threats or a hostile Republican party that could possibly be still in power in Congress?
