degenerate media
[Read the article: The Shuster fallout]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]To see the MSM decay to this level of mediocrity is just depressing. I grew up in the era of Cronkite, John Chancellor et al. Not that news was necessarily 'objective' but somehow the likes of talk radio and its sycophants starting with Rush as the most recent incarnation of its old ilk has seeped into what is supposed to pass as journalism or informed opinion is disgusting.
I am not a Hillary supporter but the dribble coming out of these talking heads regarding Hillary is unacceptable in a civil society. But then we don't live in a civil society anymore. There has been no comment about Romney's kids or anyone else's kids. And despite the talk of- its politics, she should be tougher, her vote on the war, it by no way negates the fact that the media attacks her in ways that no other candidate suffers, and I don't like the Clinton's but it is flat out wrong and whether I like them or not, the end does not justify the means.
Likewise the same applies here in Salon. This past day has seen more back and forth with some pretty vile venom and mischaracterizations by supporters of both candidates.
Lumping everyone who doesn't support your choice as one giant miasma is a disservice to the person stating such and the rest of us. If we want to reclaim our country from the likes of Cheney and Bush maybe we all should stop acting like we're in High School. You want a civil and prosperous society? The revolution starts with yourself and the treatment of others.

Joe McCarthy
[Read the article: Fred Hiatt's foreign policy "principles"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]must be having a great laugh at all this and Murrow must be turning in his grave.
This is definitely similar to the 50's in the regard to 'if you aren't with us, you're against us.' Any dissent, disagreement or even an attempt to illuminate the dark corners where malfeasance occurs is seen by the flag waving, self proclaimed 'patriots' as being disloyal or the new term abiding and abetting the 'terrorists.'
And where are the MSM journalists besides waiting in bathrooms for their meals like compliant puppies? Where is objective news?
Oh, we are told time and time again that it is a 'liberal' media with a liberal bias but we know that is crap, complete and utter crap. The MSM is ostensibly independent of the manufacture of government but in reality is nothing but a propaganda tool for disseminating the lies of a government that cares not for it's people, nor for the Constitution on which its foundation once was built, nor for the longtime future be it economic, through the application of fair justice or the providing of real security of its citizens.
Instead we have a government and a press only concerned with the acquisition of wealth and power by any means, even if in the long or short run it leads to social ruin. (See FISA)
Is every generation doomed to repeat the mistakes of the previous? It would seem sadly so.
Thanks Glenn for keeping the flashlight on.

interesting
[Read the article: Michigan, Florida governors want delegates seated]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]How some Clinton supporters are all for seating the delegates but if but the shoe were on the other foot, there would be holy hell, justified to raise.
In Michigan, key candidates like Obama, Edwards, et al were not on the ballot. In Florida, despite it not being recognized, Hillary put in a strong effort in comparison to Obama's late appearance.
It was stupid of the locals Dems to push forward their primaries given the consequences and would be equally wrong, regardless of Hillary or even if it was Obama who had won to suddenly change the rules of the game.
In fairness to the Democrats in those states there are only two conclusions, either suffer the consequences as laid out originally or and better yet, to redo the primaries. At whose expense to be determined.
If Hillary wins in a second go, fine. If Obama wins, fine. But to seat the delegates for Hillary from Michigan or Florida as is would be a travesty. And for some of you Hillary supporters, you know it would be wrong and would complain about it as I mentioned if Hillary hadn't won by default but Obama did.
If WE are to change the political landscape and future of this country then it is best for us to tend our own gardens first and behave in the way we want this country to be instead of the bickering name calling bullshit that passes as comment.

[Read the article: Why do conservatives really find the Obama campaign "scary"?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Will be when someone CGI's (Computer generated imagery) the ending of the movie "V for vendetta" and instead of Guy Fawkes masks we see Obama masks, which will scare the jesus out of the right (or Hillary) for that matter.
Hero worship with the right wingers is always ok, just like all the other bull they do, when they do it.
Come on can't we all walk in lockstep together?
